Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)Latar belakang: Emotion focused coping merupakan upaya untuk menghadapi masalah yang menimbulkan stres dengan mengelola respon emosional yang muncul. Penggunaan emotion focused coping dapat bersifat adaptif maupun maladaptif. Pemilihan coping yang digunakan individu dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor seperti umur, jenis kelamin, lingkungan, agama, dan pendidikan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui gambaran emotion focused coping pada mahasiswa program pendidikan profesi ners.
Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan teknik pengambilan data total sampling dimana responden penelitian berjumlah 83 mahasiswa program pendidikan profesi ners. Intrumen penelitian menggunakan kuesioner emotion focused coping.
Hasil: Responden dalam penelitian ini berada pada rentang usia 21-44 tahun, jenis kelamin mayoritas perempuan, lebih dari setengah jumlah responden bertempat tinggal di kos, jumlah responden semester dua lebih banyak, dan indeks prestasi kumulatif fase akademik yang paling banyak didapatkan predikat sangat memuaskan. Hasil analisis univariat mendapatkan median emotion focused coping yaitu 111 dengan rentang nilai 65 sampai 144. Semakin tinggi nilai menunjukkan semakin tinggi penggunaan emotion focused coping.
Kesimpulan: Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa program profesi ners sering menggunakan emotion focused coping sebagai mekanisme coping dalam menyelesaikan masalah. Institusi dapat memfasilitasi emotion focused coping mahasiswa agar yang digunakan adaptif.
Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris)Background: Emotion focused coping is an effort to deal with problems that cause stress by managing the emotional responses that arise. The use of emotion focused coping can be adaptive or maladaptive. The choice of coping used by individuals is influenced by several factors such as age, gender, environment, religion, and education. The purpose of this study was to describe emotion focused coping in nursing professional education program students.
Methods: This study used a quantitative descriptive method with a total sampling data collection technique where the research respondents totaled 83 students of the professional nurse education program. The research instrument used the emotion focused coping questionnaire.
Results: Respondents in this study were in the age range of 21-44 years, the sex of the majority was female, more than half of the respondents lived in boarding houses, the number of respondents in the second semester was more, and the cumulative grade point average for the academic phase obtained the most satisfactory predicate . The results of univariate analysis showed that the median emotion focused coping was 111 with a range of values from 65 to 144. The higher the value, the higher the use of emotion focused coping.
Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it was shown that students of the nurse profession program often use emotion focused coping as a coping mechanism in solving problems. Institutions can facilitate student emotion focused coping so that what is used is adaptive.
