Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)Latar Belakang: Jerawat merupakan salah satu masalah kulit. Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) merupakan bakteri paling dominan pada lesi jerawat. Daun teh hijau (Camellia sinensis L.) diketahui mengandung senyawa flavonoid berupa katekin yang memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap P. acnes. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi konsentrasi ekstrak etanol daun teh hijau terhadap sifat fisik dan aktivitas antibakteri sediaan gel facial wash.

Metodologi: Gel dengan variasi ekstrak etanol daun teh hijau 2,5%, 5%, dan 7,5% diuji sifat fisik dan aktivitas antibakteri. Uji organoleptis, homogenitas, dan sentrifugasi dianalisis secara deskriptif. Uji pH, viskositas, daya sebar, stabililitas busa, dan besarnya diameter zona hambat dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan Oneway ANOVA jika data terdistribusi normal dan Kruskal wallis jika data tidak terdistribusi normal. Semua formula diuji aktivitas antibakteri pada hari ke-1 dengan metode difusi sumuran.

Hasil Penelitian: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan konsentrasi ekstrak etanol daun teh hijau menurunkan pH namun tidak berpengaruh signifikan pada viskositas, daya sebar, dan stabilitas busa sediaan gel facial wash. Semua formula memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap P. acnes dengan diameter zona hambat F1 sebesar 1,84±1,15 mm, F2 sebesar 4,17±1,26 mm, dan F3 sebesar 7,83±1,61 mm.

Kesimpulan: Peningkatan konsentrasi ekstrak etanol daun teh hijau mempengaruhi sifat fisik berupa penurunan pH namun tidak berpengaruh signifikan pada viskositas, daya sebar, dan stabilitas busa. Semua formula memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap P. acnes dengan F3 yang memiliki zona hambat paling besar yaitu 7,83±1,61 mm.
Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris)Background: Acne is a skin problem. Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) is the most dominant bacteria in acne lesions. Green tea leaves (Camellia sinensis L.) are known to contain flavonoid compounds in the form of catechins which have antibacterial activity against P. acnes. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations in the concentration of ethanol extract of green tea leaves on the physical properties and antibacterial activity of facial wash gel preparations.

Methodology: Gel with various concentration of green tea leaf ethanol extract 2.5%, 5%, and 7.5% were tested for physical properties and antibacterial activity. Organoleptic test, homogeneity, and centrifugation were analyzed descriptively. Tests for pH, viscosity, spreadability, foam stability, and the diameter of the inhibition zone were analyzed statistically using Oneway ANOVA if the data were normally distributed and using Kruskal wallis if the data were not normally distributed. All formulas were tested for antibacterial activity at day 1 by sumuran diffusion method.

Research Result: The results showed that increasing the concentration of the ethanol extract of green tea leaves decreased the pH but had no significant effect on the viscosity, spreadability, and foam stability of the facial wash gel. All formulas had antibacterial activity against P. acnes with an inhibition zone diameter of F1 is 1,84±1,15 mm, F2 is 4,17±1,26 mm, and F3 is 7,83±1.61 mm.

Conclusion: Increasing the concentration of ethanol extract of green tea leaves affects the physical properties in the form of a decrease in pH but does not significantly affect the viscosity, spreadability, and stability of the foam. All formulas had antibacterial activity against P. acnes with F3 having the largest inhibition zone is 7,83± 1,61 mm.
