| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Komunitas scooter vespa merupakan suatu identitas sosial kaum muda di perkotaan tidak terkecuali di kota Purwokerto dengan hadirnya komunitas Soedirman Scooter Society (SSS). Eksistensi SSS sangat terkait dengan identitas sosial para anggotanya yang sebagian besar mahasiswa Unsoed dan alumninya. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pembentukan identitas sosial dari komunitas SSS dan pemaknaan identitas sosial oleh anggota SSS. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan menggunakan wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi sebagai teknik pengumpulan datanya. Penentuan informan menggunakan purposive sampling dengan analisis data studi kasus. Hasil penelitian menunjukan setiap informan memiliki pemaknaan ataupun arti yang berbeda-beda mengenai komunitas. Ada yang menyebut komunitas sebagai sarana self-healing, komunitas sebagai sarana belajar, dan komunitas sebagai sarana membangun solidaritas. Pemaknaan tersebut tergambar dari kegiatan yang dilakukan SSS yang lebih banyak bersifat sosial untuk membantu masyarakat seperti santunan anak yatim, membantu pedagang kecil saat pandemi dan membantu makan malam pekerja jalanan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa SSS sebagai simbol identitas kaum muda, tidak selalu identik dengan huru-hara, tapi juga banyak kegiatan positif yang dilakukan SSS untuk membantu sesama. | Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | The Vespa scooter community is a social identity for young people in urban areas, including in the city of Purwokerto with the presence of the Soedirman Scooter Society (SSS) community. The existence of SSS is closely related to the social identity of its members, most of whom are Unsoed students and alumni. Therefore, this study aims to find out how social identity is formed from the SSS community and the meaning of social identity by SSS members. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method using in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation as data collection techniques. Determination of informants usingpurposive sampling with analysis of case study data. The results of the study show that each informant has a different meaning or meaning about the community. There are those who call the community a means of self-healing, a community as a means of learning, and a community as a means of building solidarity. This meaning is reflected in the activities carried out by SSS which are more social in nature to help the community, such as donations for orphans, helping small traders during a pandemic and helping street workers have dinner. This study concludes that SSS as a symbol of youth identity is not always synonymous with riots, but also many positive activities carried out by SSS to help others.
