| Judul Artikel | Subtitling Strategies and Readability of Verbal Humour in Birds of Prey: And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn |

| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tipe humor lisan, strategi subtitle beserta aspek keterbacaan pada subtitle humor lisan dalam film Birds of Prey: And The Fantabulous Emacipation of One Harley Quinn. Analisis ini dilakukan menggunakan teori tipe humor lisan oleh Hay (1995: 65), teori strategi subtitle dari Gottlieb (1992: 166) dan teori keterbacaan penerjemahan dikemukakan oleh Nababan (2012: 45). Data dari penelitian ini adalah 38 data humor lisan dalam Birds of Prey: And The Fantabulous Emacipation of One Harley Quinn. Untuk menjawab pertanyaan pada rumusan masalah, peneliti menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan total sampling. Hasil dari kuesioner yang diperoleh dari beberapa responden dilibatkan dalam melakukan penelitian. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hanya 6 tipe humor lisan yang ditemukan dalam seluruh data, tipe insult mendominasi dengan jumlah 45% verbal humour, diikuti oleh self-deprecation (18%), vulgarity (15%), irony (13%), anecdote (6%), dan observational (3%). Selain itu, strategi subtile yang dipakai dalam data hanya terdapat 6 strategi. Strategi-strategi tersebut terdiri dari condensation (6%), deletion (13%), expansion (13%), imitation (6%), paraphrase (44%), dan transfer (18%). Strategi yang paling sering digunakan adalah paraphrase yang digunakan untuk mengubah struktur atau kosa kata dengan makna yang sama agar lebih mudah dipahami dalam bahasa sasaran. Yang terakhir, aspek keterbacaan dari semua data dikategorikan sebagai berterima dengan total 89% humor lisan, dan 11% termasuk kurang terbaca. Oleh karena itu, subtitle humor lisan dalam Birds of Prey: And The Fantabulous Emacipation of One Harley Quinn secara umum mudah dipahami, sehingga dapat mentransfer makna dan konteks humor lisan dalam film ini. Terbukti dengan penggunaan strategi subtitle yang diterapkan pada setiap kategori humor lisan dan menghasilkan tingkat keterbacaan yang tinggi dalam Birds of Prey: And The Fantabulous Emacipation of One Harley Quinn. |

| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | This research is aimed to analyze the types of verbal humour, subtitling strategies as well as the readability aspect of the subtitle of verbal humour in Birds of Prey: And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn. The analysis is conducted by using the theory of types of verbal humour by Hay (1995: 65), theory of subtitling strategies by Gottlieb (1992: 166) and theory of translation readability proposed by Nababan (2012: 45). The data of this research are 38 data of verbal humour from Birds of Prey: And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn movie. In order to answer the research questions, the researcher used the descriptive qualitative method and total sampling. The result of questionnaires that are acquired from the raters is also taken into consideration in conducting this research. The result of this research shows that there are only 6 types of verbal humour that are found in all the data, in which the insult type dominates with a total of 45% verbal humour, followed by self-deprecation (18%), vulgarity (15%), irony (13%), anecdote (6%), and observational (3%). Moreover, the subtitling strategies that are used are only 6 strategies. The strategies consist of condensation (6%), deletion (13%), expansion (13%), imitation (6%), paraphrase (44%), and transfer (18%). The most used strategies is paraphrase which is used to change the structure or vocabulary with the similar meaning that can be more understood in the target language. At last, the readability aspect of the data is predominantly readable which has a total 89% of verbal humour, and 11% belong to less readable. Thus, the subtitle of verbal humour in Birds of Prey: And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn are generally easy to understand, so that it can transfer the meaning and context of verbal humour in this movie. It is proved by the use of subtitling strategies that are implemented to each category of verbal humour and result in the high level of readability in Birds of Prey: And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn. |
