GerejasebagaiIdeological State Apparatus danefek-efeknyaterhadapmasyarakatproletarmerupakanfokusdaripenelitianini.kajianinimembicarakantentang proses bagaimanagerejamenjadisuatuIdeological State Apparatusmulaidaridominasinya (di hampirsemuainstitusi-institusi di dalammasyarakatseperti di sekolah-sekolah, di kantorpos, di rumahsakit di Eason Ltd. dan di dalampemerintah), hegemoni yang dilakukanpihakgereja, danlangkah-langkahgerejadalammempertahankandominasinyaterhadapmasyarakatproletardengantujuanuntukmencariumat (pengikut). | Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | Abstract The research is aimed to analyze the process of how the Church becomes the Ideological State Apparatus and its effects to proletariat society as depicted in Frank McCourt’s Angela’s Ashes novel.In this research, qualitative descriptive method is applied to analyze the Church Ideological State Apparatus and its effects to proletariat society. The approach of this research is sociological approach. The main data source is Angela’s Ashes novel which is analyzed through Louis Althusser theory namely Ideological State Apparatus. This theory will be supported by Marxist theory about the Separation of Society and also Gramsci theory about Hegemony. The Ideological State Apparatus that was done by the church and its effect to proletariat society are the focus of the research. This research discusses about the process of how the church becomes the Ideological State Apparatus. Begin from its domination (in almost all the institution in the Limerick society such as the School, the post office, the Hospital, the Eason Ltd and also the government), its hegemony, and its steps in sustaining its domination over the proletariat as a means of gaining its follower. The Church Ideological State Apparatus and its hegemony affected the proletariat society life. It discriminates them, loses their confidence feeling and even creates an everlasting poverty for the proletariat. Key words: Angela’s Ashes, bourgeois, Ideological State Apparatus, proletariat. |
