Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kekhasan dalam bahasa verbal dan nonverbal yang ditunjukan Jane dalam film Jane Wants a Boyfriend. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori kekhasan bahasa verbal oleh Atwood (2007) dan teori kekhasan non verbal oleh Gilberg (2002). Data dari penelitian ini berupa 46 kekhasan bahasa verbal dan non verbal yang ditemukan di film Jane Wants a Boyfriend berupa kata dan frasa. Peneliti menggunakan metode deskripsi kualitatif sebagai kunci untuk menjawab rumusan masalah. Berdasarkan pada penelitian, ditemukan 30 kekhasan bahasa verbal, kekhasan tersebut terdiri dari of 8 (26.6%) lack of pragmatics, 3 (10%) literal interpretation, 6 (20%) odd prosody, 2 (6.6%) pedantic language, 8 (26.6%) sounding the mind, 2(6.6%) auditory discrimination and distortion, dan 1 (3.3%) verbal fluency. Kemudian diikuti oleh 16 kekhasan bahasa non verbal. Kesemua 16 kekhasan tersebut terdiri dari 1 (6.25%) limited use of gesture, 4 (25%) gauche body language, 6 (37.5%) limited facial expression and 5 (31.25%) peculiar stiff gaze. Kekhasan yang ditunjukan oleh karakter utama merujuk pada Asperger syndrome. Sebagai saran, penelitian serupa selanjutnya yang akan meneliti hal yang sama yang berfokus pada penelitian tentang kekhasan bahasa dari seseorang pengidap Asperger syndrome dapat menggunakan menggunakan teori terbaru. Di harapkan bawasanya teori tentang Asperger syndrome akan di kembangkan secara berkala
Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris)This research aims to analyze the verbal and non verbal language peculiarities depicted by the main character in Jane Wants a Boyfriend. The theories applied in conducting this research are the verbal language peculiarities by Atwood (2007) and non-verbal language peculiarities by Gilberg (2002). The data of this research are 46 verbal and non-verbal language peculiarities found in Jane Wants a Boyfriend, in the form of words and phrases. The researcher is taking descriptive qualitative method and total sampling as key to answer the research questions. Based on the research, 30 verbal language peculiarities are found. These 30 peculiarities consist of 8 (26.6%) lack of pragmatics, 3 (10%) literal interpretation, 6 (20%) odd prosody, 2 (6.6%) pedantic language, 8 (26.6%) sounding the mind, 2(6.6%) auditory discrimination and distortion, and 1 (3.3%) verbal fluency. Those are followed by 16 non verbal language peculiarities. These 16 peculiarities consist of 1 (6.25%) limited use of gesture, 4 (25%) gauche body language, 6 (37.5%) limited facial expression and 5 (31.25%) peculiar stiff gaze. The peculiarities that are shown by the main character refer to Asperger syndrome. As a suggestion, further similar research will conduct a further study focusing on the language peculiarities of an individual with Asperger syndrome using the latest theory. It is expected that the theories about Asperger syndrome will be developed time by time
