Latar Belakang: Obesitas sentral memicu inflamasi yang dapat berujung pada kondisi diabetes melitus tipe 2 (DMT-2), DMT-2 ditandai oleh tingginya kadar gula darah (hiperglikemia). Tingginya kadar gula darah dapat menyebabkan berbagai penyakit komplikasi. Produk pangan kaya antioksidan seperti yogurt kecambah kacang tolo (yocamcalo) diharapkan dapat mencegah komplikasi terkait diabetes melitus dengan cara menurunkan kadar gula darah puasa dan lingkar perut.

Metodologi: Penelitian eksperimental ini menggunakan rancangan pretest-posttest control group design. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari-Maret 2022 di Laboratorium Pengolahan Pangan dan Kuliner Ilmu Gizi UNSOED, Desa Purwosari, dan Laboratorium Klinik Medico Labora Purwanegara. Responden berjumlah 18 orang dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok perlakuan (yocamcalo) dan kelompok kontrol (plasebo). Subjek Penelitian diperiksa kadar gula darah puasa dan diukur lingkar perut sebelum dan setelah intervensi. Data karakteristik subjek penelitian dianalis menggunakan uji independent sample t-test dan mann whitney, penurunan kadar gula darah puasa dan lingkar perut dianalisis menggunakan uji wilcoxon dan uji paired sample t-test.

Hasil Penelitian: Setelah dua bulan pemberian yocamcalo 200 ml/hari, terjadi penurunan rata-rata kadar gula darah puasa secara signifikan dari 259,33 mg/dl menjadi 231,78 mg/dl (p=0,013) dan penurunan rata-rata lingkar perut secara signifikan dari 95,00 cm menjadi 91,67 cm (p=0,008).

Kesimpulan: Pemberian yocamcalo 200ml/hari selama 2 bulan terbukti mampu menurunkan kadar gula darah puasa dan lingkar perut pada penderita diabetes melitus tipe 2.

THE EFFECT OF TOLO BEAN SPROUTS YOGURT (Vigna unguiculata) ON CHANGES IN BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVELS AND ABDOMINAL CIRCUMFERENCE OF TYPE II DIABETES MELLITUS PATIENTS

Background: Central obesity triggers inflammation that can lead to type 2 diabetes mellitus (DMT-2), DMT-2 is characterized by high blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia). High blood glucose levels can cause various complications. Antioxidant-rich food products such as tolo bean sprouts yogurt (yocamcalo) are expected to prevent complications related to diabetes mellitus by reducing fasting blood glucose levels and abdominal circumference.

Methodology: This experimental study used pretest-posttest control group design. The research was carried out in February-March 2022 at the Food and Culinary Processing Laboratory Department of Nutritional Science Unsoed, Purwosari Village, and Medico Labora Purwanegara Clinical Laboratory. The 18 respondents were divided into treatment group (yocamcalo) and control group (plasebo). Research subject were examined fasting blood glucose levels and measured abdominal circumference before and after the intervention. Research subject characteristic data were analyzed using independent sample t-test and mann whitney, a decrease of fasting blood glucose and abdominal circumference were analyzed using wilcoxon test and paired sample t-test.

Results: After 2 months of giving yocamcalo 200ml/day, there was a significant decrease of fasting blood glucose levels from 259,33 mg/dl to 231,78 mg/dl (p=0,013) and a significant decrease of abdominal circumference from 95,00 cm to 91,67 cm (p=0,008).

Conclusion: Giving yocamcalo 200ml/day for 2 months has been shown to reduce fasting blood glucose levels and abdominal circumference of type II diabetes mellitus patients.
