| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Lalat rumah (Musca domestica) berpotensi sebagai vektor foodborne diseases yang pengendaliannya masih kurang sedangkan kasusnya masih tergolong tinggi di Indonesia. Salah satu alternatif pengendaliannya adalah insektisida penolak kehadiran serangga (repellent). Senyawa terpenoid (eugenol, α-pinen dan nerolidol) diketahui memiliki aktivitas repellent serangga, yang mana kedua senyawa tersebut terkandung dalam daun salam (Syzygium polyanthum). Oleh karena itu, tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah daun salam memiliki daya repellent terhadap lalat rumah. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain true experimental post test-only control design. Ekstrak daun salam diperoleh dari proses maserasi dengan etanol. Uji repellent dilakukan dengan sampel 300 ekor lalat rumah yang terbagi menjadi 4 kelompok yaitu kontrol negatif, kontrol positif, ekstrak 30%, dan ekstrak 50%. Masing-masing kelompok berisi 25 ekor dengan 3 kali replikasi. Lalu dicatat lalat yang hinggap selama 60 menit. Rata-rata hinggapan lalat rumah pada kontrol negatif 25 ekor (daya tolak 0%), ekstrak 30% 12 ekor (daya tolak 50,67%), ekstrak 50% 6 ekor (daya tolak 76%), dan kontrol positif 4 ekor (daya tolak 86,67%). Ekstrak etanol daun salam memiliki aktivitas sebagai repellent lalat rumah, dengan konsentrasi 50% lebih baik daya tolaknya dibandingkan ekstrak 30%, namun di antara keduanya tidak ada yang paling efektif sebagai repellent lalat rumah sesuai standar. |

| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | House fly (Musca domestica) is a vector of many foodborne diseases, and its control is insufficient as the disease persists in Indonesia. One of the alternatives given is insect repellent. Terpenes (eugenol, α-pinene and nerolidol) are known for its insect repellent activity, both compounds are found in the bay leaf (Syzgygium polyanthum). This study aimed to find out if the bay leaf has repellent activity against houseflies. Bay leaf extract was obtained with ethanol maceration. For the repellent test, a quantitative study with true experimental post test-only control design was conducted with a total of 300 houseflies, which were divided into 4 groups: negative control, positive control, 30% extract, and 50% extract. Each group had 25 houseflies with 3 replications. The contact rate with the bait was then counted in 60 minutes of observation time. Negative control groups had an average contact rate of 25 (0% repellency), 30% extract had a contact rate of 12 (50,67% repellency), 50% extract had a contact rate of 6 (76% repellency), and positive control had a contact rate of 4 (86,67% repellency). Bay leaf ethanol extract has repellent activity against the housefly, which 50% extract has better repellency than 30% extract. However, there is no best repellent effect between those two dosages based on standard. |
