| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penculikan Anak Buah Kapal (ABK) Indonesia yang terjadi di laut Asia Selatan merupakan Tindakan aksi teror yang dilakukan oleh Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) yang merupakan kelompok teroris dari negara Filipina. Penculikan ini membuat Indonesia menjadi panas dengan aksi teror yang dilakukan oleh ASG di laut Asia Selatan pada tanggal 15 Maret 2016. Indonesia dan Filipina melakukan kerjasama dalam upaya pembebasan ABK Indonesia yang disandera oleh ASG. Aksi teror yang dilakukan ASG membuat trauma bagi para sandera dan keluarganya dan juga memiliki catatan aksi teror yang sangat meresahkan warga Filipina maupun warga asing yang sedang melintas di laut Asia Selatan atau yang sedang berkunjung ke negara Filpina. Dalam menangani pembebasan sandera ABK, Indonesia perlu melakukan kerjasama dengan opsi diplomasi bilateral agar menjaga kedekatannya dengan Filipina. Diplomasi bilateral ini diwujudkan oleh Indonesia dengan Filipina dalam mengupayakan pembebasan WNI sandera Abu Sayyaf Group, dengan melakukan hubungan politik, pertemuan-pertemuan kedua negara dan kerjasama bilateral kedua negara. Selain kontribusi yang dilakukan Indonesia terhadap Filipina menghadapi kelompok separatis, hal serupa juga dilakukan Filipina terhadap Indonesia. Filipina menjadi salah satu dari lima negara ASEAN yang Bersama dengan Uni Eropa membentuk Aceh Monitoring Mission (AMM). Kerjasama militer Indonesia dan Filipina dapat meloloskan beberapa sandera WNI, gempuran dari militer Filipina membuat para ASG lengah dan dapat membebaskan beberapa sandera WNI. Operasi militer Filipina tersebut terjadi dengan adanya desakan Indonesia saat pertemuan trilateral antara Indonesia, Malaysia, dan Filipina pada selasa 2 Agustus 2016. |

Indonesia and the Philippines are cooperating in efforts to free Indonesian crew members held hostage by the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG).
