Indonesia) | Periodontitis kronis merupakan salah satu penyakit periodontal akibat infeksi yang disebabkan oleh bakteri Gram negatif Porphyromonas gingivalis di daerah subgingiva sehingga mengakibatkan terjadinya kerusakan jaringan periodontal. Lipopolisakarida (LPS) akan berinteraksi dengan toll-like receptor pada sel epitel, leukosit dan fibroblas yang akan menstimulasi respon inflamasi dan produksi sitokin proinflamasi, salah satunya Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha (TNF-α). Kulit jeruk nipis (Citrus aurantifolia) mengandung senyawa flavonoid yang diketahui memiliki aktivitas antiinflamasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak etanol kulit jeruk nipis terhadap kadar TNF-α tikus putih galur Sprague-dawley model periodontitis kronis. Desain penelitian adalah eksperimental laboratoris menggunakan tikus Sprague dawley yang diinduksikan bakteri P. gingivalis dengan rancangan penelitian post test only with control group design. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan kadar TNF-α yang signifikan antar kelompok perlakuan ekstrak etanol kulit jeruk nipis dengan kelompok kontrol negatif (p<0,05), namun kelompok perlakuan dosis 0,0504 mgBB masih memiliki perbedaan bermakna dengan kelompok kontrol normal (p<0,05). Simpulan penelitian ini adalah terdapat pengaruh pemberian ekstrak etanol kulit jeruk nipis secara peroral untuk menurunkan kadar TNF-α pada tikus yang mengalami periodontitis kronis. |

Inggris) | Chronic periodontitis is one of periodontal disease due to infection caused by Gram-negative bacteria Porphyromonas gingivalis on subgingival plaque that led to destruction of periodontal tissue. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) will interact with toll-like receptor on epithelial cell, leukocytes, and fibroblas which will stimulate inflammatory response by producing pro-inflammatory cytokines, including Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha (TNF-α). Lime peel (Citrus aurantifolia) contains flavonoid which has anti-inflammatory effect. The aim of this study is to discover the effect of lime peel ethanolic extracts on TNF-α level of Sprague dawley rats with chronic periodontitis. The research design was laboratory experimental study using Sprague dawley rats induced with P. gingivalis bacteria with post test only control group design. The result showed that there was a significant difference in TNF-α between treatment groups with lime peel ethanolic extract and negative control group (P<0,05), but the treatment group at dose of 0,0504 mg/gram body weight had a significant difference with the normal control group (P<0,05). The conclusion of this research is peroral lime peel ethanolic extract has effect on reducing TNF-α gingival level on rats with chronic periodontitis.
