| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian ini berjudul “MENERJEMAHKAN CERPEN BERJUDUL THE GARDEN PARTY KARYA KATHERINE MANSFIELD” Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menerjemahkan cerita pendek berjudul “The Garden Party” karya Katherine mansield. Cerita pendek ini merupakan jenis teks narasi yang menceritakan tentang perdebatan keluarga Sherdian yang akan membuat sebuah pesta ditengah-tengah berita tetangga mereka baru saja tewas dalam kecelakaan, meninggalkan seorang istri dan lima anak kecil. Metode penelitian ini yaitu Studi pustaka dan metode praktek langsung. Dalam hal ini hasil penelitian diperoleh dari jurnal dan teori yang mendukung dalam proses penulisan dan penulis terlibat langsung dalam menerjemahkan cerpen “The Garden Party” dan dibantu oleh proofreader dalam merapihkan hasil terjemahan. Ada beberapa teknik yang digunakan untuk menerjemahkan cerpen ini yaitu amplifikasi, kreasi diskursif, padanan lazim, generalisasi dan reduksi. Teknik ini membantu penerjemah untuk menghasilkan penerjemahan yang baik tanpa mengurangi pesan yang ingin disampaikan oleh teks sumber. Cerita pendek “The Garden Party” ini memiliki cerita yang kompleks. cerita pendek ini dapat dibaca oleh semua usia, sebab pesan dan maksud dari cerita yang baik untuk kehidupan bersosialisasi kita. Pesan dan tujuannya yaitu agar kita sebagai makhluk sosial lebih menumbuhkan lagi simpati dan empati kita terhadap sesama manusia. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | The title of this research is "TRANSLATION A SHORT STORY ENTITLE THE GARDEN PARTY BY KATHERINE MANSFIELD." The purpose of this research is to translate a short story entitled "The Garden Party" by Katherine Mansield. This short story is a kind of narrative text that tells about the debates of the Sherdian family who will throw a party when there is news from their neighbors that they have just died in an accident, leaving behind a wife and five small children. This research method is literature study and direct practice. In this case, the research results are obtained from journals and theories that support the writing process and the authors are directly involved in translating the short story "The Garden Party" and assisted by proofreaders in improving the translation results. There are several techniques used to translate this short story, namely amplification, discursive creation, establish equivalents, generalization and reduction. This technique helps the translator to produce a good translation without reducing the message to be conveyed by the source text. This short story “The Garden Party” has a complex story. This short story can be read by all ages, because the message of the story is good for our social life. The message and purpose is that we as social beings can grow our sympathy and empathy for our fellow human beings. |
