| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Latar Belakang: Kurangnya aktivitas fisik merupakan salah satu masalah kesehatan di Indonesia. Kondisi ini diduga menyebabkan penurunan kebugaran fisik, termasuk fleksibilitas tubuh. Fleksibilitas pada trunkus akan mendukung gerakan otot-otot pernapasan, tulang-tulang, tendon, ligamen, dan sendi bagian trunkus untuk mobilisasi rongga dada yang akan mempengaruhi fungsi paru. Fleksibilitas diduga berhubungan dengan fungsi paru, namun sampai laporan penelitian ini dibuat, belum terdapat penelitian yang menginvestigasi permasalahan ini. Tujuan: Mengetahui hubungan antara fleksibilitas tubuh dengan fungsi paru pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Jenderal Soedirman. Metode: Penelitian observasional dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa laki - laki fakultas kedokteran Unsoed berusia 18 – 25 tahun yang berjumlah 33 mahasiswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan consecutive sampling. Fleksibilitas tubuh diukur dengan sit-and-reach test. Fungsi paru diukur dengan pemeriksaan spirometri untuk mengetahui nilai Forced Vital Capacity (FVC), Force Expiratory Volume in 1 second (FEV1), dan rasio FEV1/FVC. Analisis hipotesis menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson dan Spearman. Hasil: Subjek penelitian ini memiliki rerata fleksibilitas tubuh, rerata nilai persen prediksi FVC, rerata nilai persen prediksi FEV1, dan median rasio FEV1/FVC pada subjek berturut-turut adalah 35,3±6,1cm; 80,9±13,4%; 87,5±13,2%; 98% (77,6-100,0%). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan antara fleksibilitas tubuh dengan nilai persen prediksi FVC, FEV1, dan rasio FEV1/FVC, dengan nilai p berturut-turut adalah 0,556; 0,567; dan 0,292 (p>0,05). Kesimpulan: Tidak terdapat hubungan antara fleksibilitas tubuh dengan fungsi paru pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Jenderal Soedirman. | Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | Background: Lack of physical activity is one of the health problems in Indonesia. This condition thought to cause a decreasement in human physical fitness, including flexibility. Trunk flexibility will support the movement of the respiratory muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments, and joints of the trunk, for mobilization of the chest cavity and will affect pulmonary function. Flexibility is thought to be related to individual pulmonary function, but no studies have investigated this problem until this study report was made. Aim: To determine the correlation between flexibility with pulmonary function in medical students of Jenderal Soedirman University. Methods: This study used a cross sectional design. Subjects of this study were male medical students in Unsoed aged 18–25 years, involving 33 students whom selected using consecutive sampling. Flexibility was measured with sit-and-reach test. Pulmonary function value was measured with spirometery to determine the value of Forced Vital Capacity (FVC), Force Expiratory Volume in 1 second (FEV1), and FEV1/FVC ratio. Hypothesis was analyzed using Pearson’s and Spearman correlation method. Results: The mean flexibility, value of percent predicted of FVC, FEV1, and median FEV1/FVC ratio respectively are 35,3±6,1cm; 80,9±13,4%; 87,5±13,2%; 98% (77,6-100%). There was no correlation between flexibility and value of percent predicted of FVC, FEV1, FEV1/FVC ratio, with p value respectively are 0,556;0,567;0,292 (p>0,05). Conclusions: There is no correlation between flexibility with pulmonary function in medical students of Jenderal Soedirman University.
