Judul penelitian ini adalah “Intralingual Errors Found in The Use of Singular And Plural Nouns Made By First Grade Students of Smp Negeri 4 Purwokerto in The Academic Year of 2019/2020”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) Mengetahui tipe kesalahan pembentukan singular dan plural noun yang dibuat siswa dalam menjawab test yang diberikan peneliti, dan (2) Mengetahui strategi guru dalam mengoreksi kesalahan pembentukan singular dan plural noun yang dibuat siswa dalam menjawab tes.
Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh lembar tes yang dijawab siswa kelas 7B SMP Negeri 4 Purwokerto pada tahun ajaran 2019/2020 yang berjumlah 31 lembar tes. Pada penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan jenis total sampling maka jumlah sampelnya sama seperti jumlah populasi secara keseluruhan. Kemudian, peneliti menggunakan tes, analisis dokumen, dan wawancara sebagai alat pengumpulan data.
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Ada empat tipe kesalahan pembentukan singular dan plural noun yang ditemukan dalam lembar tes yang dikerjakan oleh siswa. Tiga tipe tersebut adalah overgeneralization, ignorance of rule restriction, incomplete application of the rule and false concept hypothesized. Overgeneralization terjadi sebanyak 4 kali atau 4.4% dari jumlah seluruh kesalahan pembentukan singular dan plural noun. Kemudian, ignorance of rule restriction terjadi sebanyak 51 kali atau 56.6% dari jumlah seluruh kesalahan pembentukan singular dan plural noun. Selanjutnya, incomplete application of the rule terjadi sebanyak 10 kali atau 11.3 % dari jumlah seluruh kesalahan pembentukan singular dan plural noun. Yang terakhir false concept hypothesized terjadi sebanyak 25 kali atau 27.7% dari jumlah kesalahan pembentukan singular dan plural noun. (2) Guru menggunakan satu strategi dalam mengoreksi kesalahan singular and plural noun yang dilakukan siswa. Strategi tersebut adalah peer correction strategy.

The research aims at finding out: (1) The types of intralingual errors made by students in answering the test given by the researcher, and (2) the teacher’ attempts or strategies to correct singular and plural noun errors made by students in answering the test.
This research is a descriptive research. The population of this research is the test result completed by the first grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Purwokerto in the Academic Year 2019/2020 consisting of 31 test sheet. Then, the researcher uses total sampling so that the sample has the same number with the population. This research uses test, document analysis, and interview as the tools for collecting the data.
The results show that: (1) there are four types of singular and plural nouns errors found in the test completed by students. Those four types of errors are overgeneralization, ignorance of rule restriction, incomplete application of the rules, and false concept hypothesized. Overgeneralization occurs 4 times or 4.4% of the total errors. Then, ignorance of rule restriction occurs 51 times or 56.6% of the total errors. Incomplete application of the rules occurs 10 times or
11.3 % of the total errors. In addition, false concept hypothesized occurs 25 times or 27.7% of the total errors. (2) There is one strategy that the teacher used to correct the errors. The strategy is namely peer correction strategy.
