Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)Karang lunak (Octocorallia) merupakan salah satu komponen pembentuk ekosistem terumbu karang. Kepulauan Karimunjawa memiliki 23 spesies karang lunak, namun terjadi penurunan persentase tutupan di Kepulauan Karimunjawa setiap tahunnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kelimpahan, pola distribusi, dan persentase tutupan karang lunak di Pulau Menjangan Besar, serta mengetahui hubungan kedalaman terhadap kelimpahan, distribusi, dan persentase tutupan karang lunak. Metode Belt Transect digunakan untuk mengetahui kelimpahan dan distrisbusi karang lunak, Line Intercept Transect digunakan untuk mengetahui persentase tutupan karang lunak. Analisis dilakukan secara deskriptif dan statistik. Analisis Korelasi Pearson dilakukan sebagai analisis statistik untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kedalaman dengan kelimpahan, pola distribusi, dan persentase tutupan karang lunak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kelimpahan karang lunak adalah sebesar 0,107-0,664 individu/m2 dengan pola distribusi mengelompok. Persentase tutupan karang lunak masuk ke dalam kategori buruk sampai sedang (5,143-44,286%). Hasil analisis korelasi menunjukkan terdapat hubungan sangat lemah antara kelimpahan (r=0,131), distribusi (r=0,239), dan persentase tutupan karang lunak (r=0,114) terhadap kedalaman.
Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris)Soft corals (Octocorallia) is one of the reef-building ecosystem components. Karimunjawa Archipelago has 23 species of soft corals, but the percentage of corals coverage in Karimunjawa has been reduced through the years. The purpose of this study is to know the abundance, distribution pattern, and percentage of soft corals coverage in Menjangan Besar Island, and to know the correlation of abundance, distribution, and percentage of soft corals coverage towards depth. Belt Transect Method was used to determine the abundance and distribution of soft corals, Line Intercept Method was used to determine the percentage of soft corals coverage. Descriptive and statistic analysis was used in this study. Pearson Correlation Analysis was used as statistic analysis to determine the correlation between abundance, distribution, and percentage of soft corals coverage towards depth. The result showed that the abundance of soft corals was 0,107-0,664 individual/m2 with group distribution pattern. The percentage of soft corals coverage was poor to fair (5,143-44,286%). The analysis showed that the correlation between abundance (r=0,131), distribution (r=0,239), and percentage of soft corals coverage (r=0,114) towards depth was very weak.
