| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Latar Belakang: Plat ortodonti merupakan komponen penting pada peranti ortodonti lepasan yang biasa terbuat dari resin akrilik self-cure menggunakan metode spray-on. Umumnya plat ortodonti tidak memiliki motif atau bersifat polos namun plat ini memiliki nilai estetik yang kurang menarik khususnya bagi pasien anak-anak dan remaja. Plat ortodonti yang dimodifikasi dengan pemberian motif tertentu saat ini dikembangkan dengan tujuan untuk memotivasi pasien agar lebih kooperatif dalam menggunakan peranti tersebut sehingga dapat meningkatkan keberhasilan perawatan. Motif yang umum diaplikasikan adalah bulat dan persegi. Tujuan: Menganalisis perbedaan kekuatan fleksural pada plat ortodonti resin akrilik self-cure menggunakan metode spray-on yang dimodifikasi dengan atau tanpa pemberian motif berbentuk bulat dan persegi. Metode Penelitian: Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimental laboratoris murni dengan rancangan penelitian berupa posttest only control group design. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 3 kelompok dengan jumlah sampel sembilan pada tiap kelompok. Kelompok I merupakan plat ortodonti bermotif bulat, kelompok II merupakan plat ortodonti bermotif persegi, dan kelompok III merupakan plat ortodonti tanpa motif. Uji kekuatan fleksural dilakukan menggunakan Universal Testing Machine. Hasil dan kesimpulan: Rerata hasil uji kekuatan fleksural tertinggi terdapat pada kelompok III sebesar 77,11 MPa, diikuti dengan kelompok I sebesar 46,06 MPa, dan rerata terendah terdapat pada kelompok II sebesar 35,59 MPa. Hasil uji stastistik One-Way ANOVA menunjukkan adanya perbedaan bermakna antar kelompok dengan nilai p sebesar 0,000 (p<0,05) dan hasil uji Post-Hoc LSD menunjukkan adanya perbedaan sangat bermakna antara kelompok kontrol (kelompok III) dengan kelompok perlakukan p=0,000 (p<0,05) serta perbedaan bermakna antara kelompok I dan kelompok II dengan p=0,045 (p<0,05). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah modifikasi dengan pemberian motif berbentuk bulat maupun persegi dapat menurunkan nilai kekuatan fleksural pada plat ortodonti resin akrilik self-cure namun plat bermotif bulat memilki kekuatan yang lebih unggul dari plat bermotif persegi. |

| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | Background: Baseplate is an essential component of removable orthodontic made of self-cure acrylic resin with spray-on method. Generally, orthodontic baseplate didn’t have any motive or plain. However esthetically, this baseplate is less attractive especially for children and teenagers. Orthodontic baseplate that modified by certain motive are currently being developed. This modification to motivate patient to be more cooperative to use orthodontic baseplate, thereby it can increase the success of the treatment. General motive that applied were round and square. Purpose: To analyze the flexural strength difference of self-cure acrylic resin orthodontic baseplate with spray-on method with or without modified by round and square motive. Methods: This study used in vitro experimental laboratory with posttest-only control group design to investigate 3 groups of orthodontic baseplate. Each group consist of 9 samples. Group I was an orthodontic baseplate modified by round motive, group II was an orthodontic baseplate modified by square motive, and group III was an intact orthodontic baseplate without giving any motive. The test of flexural strength was carried out using Universal Testing Machine. Result and conclusions: The highest flexural strength average were in group III of 77,11 MPa, followed by group I of 46,06 MPa, and the lowest average were in group II of 35,59 MPa. The One-Way ANOVA statistical test results showed significant difference between groups with a p-value of 0,000 (p<0,005) and the results of Post-Hoc LSD test showed a very significant difference between the control group and the treatment group with p-value=0,000 (p<0,05) and significant difference between group I and group II with p-value=0,045 (p<0,05). The conclusion of this research is modification by giving round and square motive can decrease the flexural strength of self-cure acrylic resin orthodontic baseplate. Orthodontic baseplate modified by round motive was far superior than square motive. |
