| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian yang berjudul “Pengggunaan metode pembelajaran Communicative Language Teaching untuk meningkatkan kelancaran berbahasa Inggris siswa (sebuah penelitian eksperimental kepada siswa kelas sebelas di SMAN 4 Purwokerto pada tahun ajaran 2019/2020)” bertujuan untuk menguji penerapan metode CLT di ruang kelas, untuk mencari tahu peningkatan siswa dalam kelancaran berbicara bahasa Inggris, dan untuk mengungkap faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi setelah dilakukannya penerapan metode CLT tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian quasi. Subyek dari penelitian ini adalah kelas sebelas di SMAN 4 Purwokerto pada tahun ajaran 2019/2020. Populasinya sebanyak 340 siswa dibagi menjadi 10 kelas. Sampel yang digunakan pada penelitian terdiri dari dua kelas, kelas XI MIPA 1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas XI MIPA 4 sebagai kelas kontrol. Data yang dikumpulkan berasal dari observasi, kuesioner, dan ujian. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat bahwa penerapan metode CLT berhasil. Dapat dilihat dari lembar observasi bahwa guru mengikuti penerapan metode CLT, seperti guru menyiapkan materi dengan baik; materi yang disetujui oleh guru berdasarkan silabus dan kurikulum; guru memberikan instruksi dengan jelas; guru meminta siswa untuk berbicara dengan bebas, mendorong siswa untuk berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris, sepenuhnya berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris, dan memberikan tugas yang sesuai untuk meningkatkan kelancaran berbicara siswa. Selain itu, kelancaran berbahasa Inggris siswa juga meningkat. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari hasil uji-t yang nilai-tnya adalah 5,752> table-t yang sama dengan 2,037 (5% atau 0,05 dari tingkat signifikansi). Ini berarti bahwa penerapan metode CLT memliki pengaruh yang signifikan maka hipotesis alternatif (Hi) dapat diterima. Selain itu, kelompok eksperimen telah meningkat secara signifikan setelah perawatan yang nilai rata-ratanya adalah 62,5-81. Hal ini juga didukung oleh hasil kuesioner dan pengamatan bahwa factor-faktor yang mempengaruhi siswa setelah penerapan metode CLT diantarnya adalah faktor kognitif, linguistik, dan afektif. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | The research entitled “Using the Communicative Language Teaching Method To Improve the Students’ English Speaking Fluency (An Experimental Study on the Eleventh Grade Students of SMAN 4 Purwokerto in the Academic Year of 2019/2020)” aims to examine the implementation of CLT method in the classroom, figure out the students’ improvement in English speaking fluency, and reveal the influencing factors after the implementation of CLT method. This research used the quasi experimental. The subjects of this research were the eleventh grade students of SMAN 4 Purwokerto in the academic year of 2019/2020. The population was 340 students divided into 10 classes. The samples of this research were two classes: XI MIPA 1 as the experimental group and XI MIPA 3 as control group. The data were collected from observations, questionnaires, and tests. The result of this research shows that the implementation of CLT method was successful. It can be seen from the observation sheet that the teacher followed the implementation of CLT method, such as the teacher had prepared the materials well; the materials were approved by the teacher which based on the syllabus and curriculum; the teacher clearly gave the instructions; the teacher asked the students to speak freely, encouraged the students to speak in English, fully spoke in English, and provided the appropriate tasks to improve the students’ speaking fluency. Furthermore, the students’ English speaking fluency has improved. It can be seen from the t-test result which the t-value was 5.752 > t-table which was equal to 2.037 (5% or 0.05 of level significance). It means that the implementation of CLT method has significant effect that the alternative hypothesis (Hi) is accepted. In addition, the experimental group has significantly improved after the treatment in which the mean was from 62.5 to 81. It was also supported by the result of questionnaires and observations that the factors influencing after the implementation of CLT method were cognitive, linguistic, and affective factors. |
