| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian yang berjudul “Ellen’s anorexia in To The Bone movie” bertujuan untuk mengetahui penyebab tokoh utama, Ellen, mengalami anoreksia. Peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif untuk menganalisis data. Data primer dari penelitian ini adalah film To The Bone oleh Martin Noxon. Selain itu, peneliti menggunakan teori psikologi sastra, teori anoreksia nervosa, dan teori sinematografi untuk menganalisis penyebab Ellen anoreksia. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa anoreksia Ellen disebabkan oleh dua faktor. Pertama, faktor internal (menjadi stres, merasa kesepian, dan mengalami depresi). Faktor ini tidak dapat dilihat dari sudut pandang orang lain tetapi hanya dapat dirasakan oleh Ellen. Selain itu, faktor eksternal berasal dari keluarga Ellen (perceraian dari orang tua Ellen dan komunikasi yang buruk). Ini juga tentang kurangnya kasih sayang dan perhatian setelah bercerai. Terakhir, faktor external terakhir adalah adanya komunikasi buruk membuat Ellen dan orang tua tidak pernah berinteraksi satu sama lain dengan benar yang menyebabkan dia merasa terisolasi dan juga membuat kepercayaan diri Ellen menurun. Kedua faktor tersebut merupakan penyebab penyakit Ellen yang membawanya menjadi anoreksia. |

| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | The research entitled ”Ellen’s anorexia in To The Bone movie” aims at figuring out the way the main character, Ellen, experiences anorexia. The researcher uses a qualitative method to analyze the data. The primary data is taken from Martin Noxon’s movie entitled To The Bone. In addition, the researcher uses the psychology of literature theory, anorexia nervosa theory, and cinematography theory to analyze the causes of Ellen’s anorexia. The result of this research shows that Ellen’s anorexia is caused by two factors. The first is internal factors (being stress, feeling lonely, and experiencing depression). This factor cannot be seen from other’s viewpoints, but it can be felt by Ellen. Moreover, external factors coming from Ellen’s family (divorce of Ellen’s parents and poor communication). It is also about lack of affection and attention after her parents divorced. The last external factor is the existing of poor communication which makes Ellen and her parents never interact with each other properly. It causes her to feel isolated and causes Ellen’s self-esteem suffered. Those two factors are the causes of Ellen’s disease that leads her to be anorexic. |
