| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi tanda-tanda yang ditemukan dalam 10 poster film animasi terlaris berdasarkan www.imdb.com dan menjelaskan fungsi bahasa yang digambarkan oleh tanda-tanda tersebut. Bidang penelitian ini adalah semiotika yang merupakan kajian tentang sistem tanda untuk mengetahui bagaimana tanda-tanda berhubungan satu sama lain dalam merepresentasikan makna tertentu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk menganalisis data yang terdiri dari 10 poster film. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah pertama, setiap gambar terdiri dari tanda-tanda yaitu ikon, indeks, dan simbol. Ikon mencakup semua benda dalam gambar yang merupakan replikasi, imitasi, kemiripan, atau tiruan dari objek nyatanya. Indeks terdiri dari semua tanda baik dalam bentuk gambar, kata, frasa, atau kalimat dalam gambar yang menunjukkan hubungan sebab akibat. Simbol mencakup semua tanda yang memiliki makna tertentu saat dikaitkan dengan konteks pada gambar. Kedua, dari tanda tersebut kita dapat melihat adanya fungsi bahasa yang digunakan untuk menyampaikan pesan atau cerita tentang film tersebut yaitu fungsi referensial dan fungsi puitis. Hal tersebut bertujuan untuk menarik perhatian dan minat penonton untuk menonton film tersebut. |

Inggris) | This research is aimed at identifying the signs found in movie poster on 10 Highest Grossing Animated movies based on www.imdb.com and explaining kinds of function of language reflected on those signs. The field of this research is semiotics which is the study of sign system to know how the signs are correlated with each other in revealing certain meaning. This research uses descriptive qualitative method to analyze the data which are 10 highest animated movie posters. The results of this research are first, each poster contains iconic, indexical, and symbolic signs. The iconic signs consist of all the things in the drawings that are the replication, the imitation, the resemblance, or the simulation of the real object. The indexical signs consist of the signs either in the form of drawing, word, phrase, or sentence in the drawings which show causal relation. The symbolic signs consist of the signs that create particular meaning when they are connected to the context of the drawing. Second, the signs in the posters expose 2 function of language used to convey the message or the story of the movie which are referential function and poetic function. It represents the story that will show on the animation movie. Furthermore, it aims to attract the attention and interest of the audience to watch the movie. |
