Penelitian ini berjudul “A Stylistic Study on Functional Sentence Types Used in The Jakarta Post Headline”. Penelitian ini berfokus pada analisis tipe kalimat, fungsi bahasa dan penggunaan fitur stilistika di headline berita People, Opinion dan National di The Jakarta Post. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk 1) menemukan tipe kalimat yang digunakan; 2) menjelaskan fungsi bahasa yang terdapat pada tipe kalimat tersebut; 3) menjelaskan penggunaan fitur stilistikanya. Untuk mendapatkan hasil penelitian, pendekatan stilistika digunakan pada 711 data. Ada 3 bagian hasil penelitian ini. Pertama, analisis tipe kalimat dari 711 data, ditemukan sebanyak 659 tipe kalimat pernyataan, 30 tipe kalimat tanya, 21 tipe kalimat perintah dan 1 tipe kalimat seru. Kedua, dari 711 data yang terkumpul, ada 675 kali kemunculan fungsi informatif, 9 kali kemunculan fungsi ekspresif yang diikuti oleh hasil penemuan fungsi estetika, fungsi kalimat perintah dan fungsi kalimat phatic sebanyak 2 kali, 21 kali dan 5 kali. Terakhir, dari 712 data di analisis penggunaan fitur stilistika, ada 205 nomor untuk penghilangan kata, 119 nomor untuk penggunaan kata singkat, 301 nomor untuk penggunaan frasa nomina, 24 nomor untuk penggunaan gimmick dan 62 nomor untuk penggunaan nominalisasi. Kesimpulannya, tipe yang banyak di temukan di headline adalah tipe kalimat pernyataan (92, 8%), fungsi informatif (95%) dan penggunaan frasa nomina (42%). Disamping itu, ditemukan juga tipe yang jarang digunakan seperti, tipe kalimat seru (0, 3%), fungsi estetika (0, 4%), dan penggunaan gimmick (3, 2%). |

This research is entitled “A Stylistic Study on Functional Sentence Types Used in The Jakarta Post Headline”. It focuses on analyzing sentence types, its language functions and the use of stylistic features in People, Opinion and National of The Jakarta Post headline. By using qualitative method, this research is aimed 1) to find out the sentence types used; 2) to explain its function based on the language function; 3) to explain the use of stylistic features. In order to get the result of the analysis, stylistic approach is used on 711 data. There are three results section. First, from 711 data in analyzing the sentence types, 659 headlines are statement, 30 headlines are question, 21 headlines are command and 1 headline is exclamation. Second, from 711 data collected, there are 675 times of informative function occurrence, 8 times of expressive function occurrence, followed by aesthetic function, directive function and phatic function, which occurs 2 times, 21 times, and 5 times of occurrence. Last, from 711 data in analyzing the use of stylistic features, there are 205 numbers for the omission of words, 119 numbers for the use of short words, 301 numbers for the use of noun phrase, 24 numbers for gimmick and 62 numbers for nominalization. In addition, the most frequently found in the headline is statement type (92, 8%), informative function (95%) and the use of noun phrase (42%). Besides, it is found the rarest used such as, exclamation type (0, 3%), aesthetic function (0, 4%) and the use of gimmick (3, 2%). |
