Kata Kunci: Penerjemahan, Teknik Penerjemahan, Penilaian Kualitas Terjemahan, Penerjemahan Audiovisual, Sulih Suara, Toy Story Penelitian ini berjudul “Linguistic Amplification and Linguistic Compression as Dubbing Techniques of the Main Character’s Utterances in Toy Story Movie and its Acceptability. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori teknik penerjemahan milik Molina dan Albir (2002), dan teori penilaian kualitas terjemahan milik Nababan (2010). Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif sebagai rancangan penelitian, penelitian ini memiliki tujuan 1) menjelaskan bagaimana penerjemah menerapkan teknik linguistic amplification dalam film Toy Story dubbing Indonesia, 2) menjelaskan bagaimana penerjemah menerapkan teknik linguistic compression dalam film Toy Story dubbing Indonesia, dan 3) untuk menjelaskan teknik penilaian kualitas terjemahan khususnya hanya pada ucapan karakter utama, Woody The Cowboy dalam film Toy Story dubbing Indonesia. Menurut hasil penelitian ini, ditemukan 18 ungkapan yang termasuk teknik linguistic compression, dan 7 ucapan yang termasuk teknik linguistic amplification, yang nantinya disebut sebagai data. Selanjutnya, kuisioner diberikan kepada penilai untuk melakukan penilaian kualitas terjemahan dari tiap ucapan. Berdasarkan hasil kuisioner dan pertimbangan peneliti, dua puluh satu (21) data termasuk terjemahan yang berterima, tiga (3) data termasuk terjemahan yang kurang berterima, dan satu (1) data termasuk terjemahan yang tidak berterima. Sebagai kesimpulan, peneliti menemukan poin menarik yaitu linguistic compression mendominasi seluruh ucapan karakter utama dalam penelitian ini, dimana linguistic amplification lah yang merupakan strategi terjemahan paling sesuai untuk dubbing. Dengan menerapkan strategi linguistic amplification dan linguistic compression, terjemahan atau versi dubbing Indonesia dari film ini dianggap berterima. |

Keywords: Translation, Translation Technique, Translation Quality Assessment, Audiovisual Translation, Dubbing, Toy Story This research is entitled “Linguistic Amplification and Linguistic Compression as Dubbing Techniques of the Main Character’s Utterances in Toy Story Movie and its Acceptability. The theory used in conducting this research is the theory of translation technique by Molina and Albir (2002), and the theory of translation quality assesment by Nababan (2010). Taking qualitative method as the research design, this research is aimed 1) to explain how the translator applies the linguistic amplification technique in the Indonesian dubbed version of Toy Story Movie, 2) to explain how the translator adapts the linguistic compression technique in the Indonesian dubbed version of Toy Story Movie, and 3) to explain the acceptability level in the dubbed version of Toy Story Movie especially in the main character, Woody The Cowboy by using linguistic amplification and linguistic compression strategies. Based on the result, 18 utterances are found and categorized as linguistic compression, 7 utterances are identified as linguistic amplification, that later known as the data. Then, the questionnaire are given to the rater to assess the acceptability level of each utterance. According to the result of the questionnaire along with the researcher’s consideration, there are twenty one (21) data which belong to acceptable translation, three (3) data which belong to less acceptable translation, and one (1) data which belongs to not acceptable translation. To sum up, the researcher finds an interesting point that linguistic compression is dominating the whole utterances of the main character in this research, where linguistic amplification is the most appropriate translation technique for dubbing. By applying linguistic amplification and linguistic compression, the translation or the Indonesian dubbed version of this movie is considered acceptable. |
