Kementerian Riset, Teknologi dan Pendidikan Tinggi, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Jurusan Sastra Inggris, Program Studi Sastra Inggris, Purwokerto Penelitian yang berjudul A Translation Analysis of Verbal Humor in Sherlock Holmes the Series Season Four (2017) ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis humor verbal dan tingkat keberterimaan di bahasa sasaran. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah semua ungkapan atau ujaran yang mengandung humor dalam film Sherlock Holmes the Series Season Four (2017). Dalam tahap ini, teori Raphaelson-West digunakan untuk menganalisis tipe humor dan teori Nababan digunakan untuk mengkaji tingkat keberterimaan. Data di ambil dari keseluruhan ungkapan yang mengandung humor. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa tiga tipe humor ditemukan dalam film Sherlock Holmes the Series Season Four (2017) yang berjumlah 65 data, yaitu linguistic humor, cultural humor and universal Humor. Peneliti menemukan 5 data linguistic humor, 7 data cultural humor dan 53 data universal humor. Pada penelitian ini tipe yang paling banyak muncul adalah universal humor. Universal humor merupakan tipe yang paling mudah difahami karena tidak mempertimbangkan unsur budaya pada kedua bahasa sumber dan bahasa sasaran. Selain itu, universal humor hanya mempertimbangkan tingkat kelucuan terhadap semua orang secara umum. Selanjutnya, dengan menghitung hasil kuisioner, terjemahan yang mengandung humor pada film Sherlock Holmes the Series Season Four (2017) memiliki tingkat keberterimaan tinggi. Makna yg terkandung dalam humor tersebut tersampaikan dengan baik sehingga terjemahan mudah dipahami oleh penonton. |

The research entitled A Translation Analysis of Verbal Humor in Sherlock Holmes the Series Season Four (2017) aims at analysing types of humor and level of acceptability in target language. The data of this research are the whole verbal humorous utterances in Sherlock Holmes the Series Season Four (2017) movie. This research employs Raphaelson-west’s theory in analyzing humor types and Nababan’s theory in investigating acceptability level. The data were taken from all humorous utterances in the movie. The results show that three types of humor are found in Sherlock Holmes the Series Season Four (2017) movie that contained 65 data, including linguistic, cultural and universal humor. The researcher finds 5 data of linguistic humor, 7 data of cultural humor and 53 data of universal humor. However, in this research universal humor is the most frequent type used in the movie. The findings show that Universal humor becomes the most common type to be recognized because this type does not include cultural aspects in both source and target language. Furthermore, universal humor only considers as funny for most people in general. In addition, by calculating the result of the questionnaire, the translation of English humor in Sherlock Holmes the Series Season Four (2017) movie is considered as high level of acceptability. The message contained in the humor is well-transferred, so the translation is easily understood by the target audience. |
