Judul ArtikelPENURUNAN GAS METAN MELALUI PENAMBAHAN DAUN KELOR (Moringa oleifera) PADA PAKAN SAPI POTONG
Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh penambahan tepung daun kelor pada pakan sapi potong terhadap gas metan dan NH3. Materi penelitian yang digunakan yaitu cairan rumen berasal dari 3 ekor sapi potong jantan dewasa segera setelah sapi dipotong. Perlakuan yang diuji yaitu penambahan tepung daun kelor dengan taraf 0% (P0), 1% (P1), dan 2% (P2) berdasarkan pada BK kosentrat pada pakan yang tersusun dari hijauan rumput gajah (50%) dan konsentrat (50%). Konsentrat tersusun dari dedak (2 bagian) dan bungkil kelapa (1 bagian). Rancangan penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap. Setiap perlakuan diulang 6 kali, sehingga terdapat 18 unit percobaan. Peubah yang diukur adalah konsentrasi gas metan dan NH3. Hasil pengukuran konsentrasi gas metan yaitu 47,26 ± 2,34 mM (P0); 42,26 ± 1,44 mM (P1) dan 40,38 ± 2,01 mM (P2). Hasil pengukuran konsentrasi NH3 yaitu 18,50 ± 0,15 mM (P0); 17,82 ±0,32 mM (P1) dan 15,07 ± 0,84 mM (P2). Hasil uji statistik memberikan pengaruh yang sangat nyata (P<0.05) terhadap gas metan dan NH3. Hasil penelitian menunjukan semakin tinggi taraf daun kelor konsentrasi NH3 dan gas metan semakin menurun. Kesimpulan, Penambahan tepung daun kelor sebanyak 2% dari BK konsentrat dapat menurunkan konsentrasi gas metan sebanyak 14,6% dan NH3 sebanyak 18,5% .
Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris)The research aimed to examine the effect of the addition of moringa flour to the feed of beef cattle to methane gas and NH3-ammonia. The research material used rumen fluid derived from 3 bull beef cattle taken after the cattle are slaughtered. The treatments were the addition of Moringa leaf flour with 0% (P0), 1% (P1), and 2% (P2) levels based on DM of concentrate on feed composed of forage of Napier grass (50%) and concentrate (50%) . Concentrates are composed of rice bran (2 parts) and coconut meal (1 part). The experimental methods used in vitro, with the study design using a completely randomized design. Each treatment was repeated six times, so there were 18 experimental units. The parameters measured were methane gas and NH3-ammonia. The measurement of methane gas concentration are 47.26 ± 2.34 mM (P0); 42.26 ± 1.44 mM (P1) and 40.38 ± 2.01 mM (P2). The measurement of NH3-ammonia concentration are 18.50 ± 0.15 mM (P0); 17.82 ± 0.32 mM (P1) and 15.07 ± 0.84 mM (P2). The result of statistical test gives significant effect (P <0.05) to methane and NH3. The results showed that the higher level of Moringa leaf concentration of NH3 and methane gas decreased. It could be concluded that, the addition of moringa flour 2% can reduce the concentration of methane gas as much as 14.6% and NH3 as much as 18.5%.
