| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian yang berjudul “An Analysis of Echoic Onomatopoeias Found in the Powerpuff Girls Comic: Meet the Micro Puffs“ bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui makna leksikal dan kontekstual onomatopoeia echoic, dan (2) mengetahui fungsi onomatopoeia echoic pada komik The Powerpuff Girls: Meet the Micro Puffs. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data pada penelitian ini adalah komik The Powerpuff Girls: Meet the Micro Puffs dan data yang digunakan adalah semua onomatopoeia echoic pada komik tersebut. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah: Pertama, berdasarkan tipe makna kontekstual yaitu suara lingkungan (2 data), suara benda (2 data), suara aksi berkelahi (7 data) dan suara lain-lain (3 data). Tipe dominan pada komik ini adalah suara aksi berkelahi karena jenis dari komik ini adalah aksi, petualangan, dan pahlwan, sehingga ada banyak aksi perkelahian yang terjadi di dalam komik ini. Kedua, terdapat fungsi untuk memperkaya konten artikel dengan cara memberikan deskripsi gambaran yang lebih hidup mengenai lingkungan (5 data), untuk meningkatkan tingkat musikalitas karena onomatopoeia adalah kata yang menirukan bunyi yang alami (1 datum), untuk mendalami impresi pembaca pada pesan karena onomatopoeia ‘audiolize’ gambar (3 data), dan untuk memaksimalkan kenyataan situasi sehingga pembaca bisa mendapatkan sensasi akustik yang nyata pada seluruh gambar (5 data). Fungsi pertama dan keempat adalah fungsi yang paling dominan dalam komik ini karena fungsi tersebut membuat komik terlihat realistis dan membuat pembaca membayangkan merasakan dan mendengar situasi pada gambar dalam komik. |

Inggris) | This research entitled “An Analysis of Echoic Onomatopoeias Found in the Powerpuff Girls Comic: Meet the Micro Puffs“ aims to: (1) find out the lexical and contextual meanings of the echoic onomatopoeias, and (2) find out the functions of echoic onomatopoeias words found in The Powerpuff Girls: Meet the Micro Puffs.This research uses descriptive qualitative approach. The source of the data is The Powerpuff Girls Comic: Meet the Micro Puffs and the data were all the echoic onomatopoeic words found in the comic. The results of this research are: First, based on the types of contextual meanings, there are sounds of environment (2 data), sounds of things (2 data), sounds of fighting actions (7 data), and sounds of miscellanies (3 data). The most dominant type found in this comic is sound of fighting actions because the genres of this action are action, adventure, and superheroes so that there are a lot of fighting actions that happen in the comic. Second, there are functions to enrich the contents of the article by giving more vivid description about the environment (5 data), to increase the degree of musicality since onomatopoeic are words that imitate natural sounds (1 datum), to deepen the impression of readers towards the message because onomatopoeia ‘audiolize’ the picture (3 data), and to maximize the reality of situation so that the readers can get a real acoustic sensation of the whole picture (5 data). The first and fourth functions are the most dominant functions in this comic because those functions make the comic looks realistic and make the readers imagine feeling and hearing the situation of the picture. |
