| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | ABSTRAK Film In Time merupakan film fiksi ilmiah yang menceritakan tentang fenomena perkotaan di masa depan. Film ini diproduksi pada tahun 2011 dan merupakan refleksi pembuat film atas fenomena occupy wallstreet. Film ini menceritakan tentang kehancuran tatanan sosial di perkotaan masa depan akibat jurang ketimpangan ekonomi yang begitu besar di antara masyarakatnya. Kemiskinan yang akut dan monopoli sumber daya pada segelintir orang menyebabkan lahirnya bibit-bibit pemberontakan yang ingin mengubah sistem. Film ini dianalisis menggunakan semiotika Charles Sanders Pierce. Adapun semiotik Charles Sanders Pierce mengurai makna menjadi tiga, yaitu ikon, indeks, dan simbol. Terdapat 7 Scenes yang menjadi scenes pilihan untuk dianalisis supaya dapat menjawab pertanyaan penelitian secara komprehensif. Semiotika Charles Sanders Pierce dipilih karena terdapat indeks sebagai unit analisis untuk membedah hubungan kausal dalam sebuah tanda. Hal tersebut tidak terdapat pada semiologi Ferdinand De Saussure Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa terdapat distribusi kelas, eksploitasi kelas, dan konflik kelas dalam film In Time. Distribusi kelas berupa kelas borjuis dan kelas proletar. Eksploitasi kelas dilakukan oleh kelas borjuis terhadap kelas proletar melalui penghisapan nilai lebih kerja. Konflik kelas terjadi karena munculnya kesadaran kelas proletariat untuk mengubah nasibnya. Secara umum film In Time berisi kritik atas kapitalisme yang menyimpan bom waktu kesenjangan ekonomi yang semakin tinggi dan berpotensi menimbulkan krisis. Sebagai implikasi, penelitian ini memberikan jalan bagi peneliti lain untuk memaknai film yang sama dalam konteks kritik kapitalisme maupun film lain dalam konteks yang sama. Hal tersebut diperlukan mengingat kapitalisme sudah menjadi sestem yang langgeng dan mempengaruhi kehidupan masyarakat sehari-hari dan dapat direpresentasikan dalam bentuk film. Analisis terhadap film akan memperkaya pengetahuan atas kapitalisme. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | ABSTRACT The In Time movie is a science fiction movie that tells about future urban phenomena. This movie was produced in 2011 and is a reflection of filmmakers over the phenomenon of occupy wallstreet. It tells us about the destruction of social order in the future urban areas due to the huge economic inequality among the people. Acute poverty and resource monopoly in a handful of people lead to the birth of seeds of revolt that want to change the system. This movie was analyzed using Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotics. The semiotic of Charles Sanders Pierce unravels the meaning into three, namely icon, index, and symbol. There are 7 Scenes which are the preferred scenes to be analyzed in order to answer the research questions comprehensively. Semiotics Charles Sanders Pierce was chosen because there is an index as an analytical unit to dissect causal relationships in a sign. It does not exist in the semiology of Ferdinand De Saussure. The results revealed that there were class distributions, class exploits, and class conflicts in the In Time movie. Class distribution of bourgeois class and proletarian class. Class exploitation is done by the bourgeoisie against the proletarian class through the exploitation of the value of labor. Class conflict occurs because of the emergence of the class consciousness of the proletariat to change its destiny. This movie generally contains criticisms of capitalism that hold the time bombs of increasing economic gap and potentially cause crisis. As an implication, this study provides a way for other researchers to interpret the same film in the context of criticism of capitalism or other films in the same context. This is necessary given that capitalism has become a lasting system and affects the daily lives of people and can be represented in movie. The analysis of this movie will enrich the knowledge of capitalism. |
