| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian yang berjudul “An Analysis Of Romance Formula In One Day Novel By David Nicholls” ini bertujuan untuk menemukan dan menyusun situasi, karakter dan hubungannya, tempat, dan alur dengan menggunakan formula roman. Pendekatan objektif milik Abram dan teori roman formula milik Cawelti digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk menganalisis objek. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk menganalisis data berupa dialog dan narasi pada novel One Day karya David Nicholls. Terdapat empat langkah yang dilakukan oleh peneliti dalam menganalisis novel untuk menjawab rumusan masalah. Pertama, membaca novel One Day terlebih dahulu untuk memahami isi novel tersebut. Kedua, mengidentifikasi parameter dalam pengumpulan data dan mengusulkan jenis data yang harus dikumpulkan. Ketiga, mencari informasi yang relevan dengan topik penelitian. Kemudian langkah terakhir adalah mengatur, menganalisis dan menjelaskan data. Berdasarkan analisis yang ada, ditemukan banyak bukti yang memenuhi syarat novel One Day untuk dikategorikan sebagai cerita bergenre roman. Dalam penelitian ini, pembahasan difokuskan pada perjuangan Emma dan Dexter demi kisah cinta mereka. Sebab itulah formula roman dalam novel ini ditemukan, seperti: pertemuan pertama mereka, saat mereka jatuh cinta, beberapa halangan dalam hubungan mereka, pernikahan dan akhir dari kisah cinta mereka. Bagian-bagian tersebut dengan jelas menyempurnakan syarat formula roman yang harus dipenuhi sebagaimana disebutkan oleh John G. Cawelti. |

Inggris) | The research entitled “An Analysis Of Romance Formula In One Day Novel By David Nicholls” is aimed to find out and arranged the situation, character and the relationship, setting inside One Day novel by Cawelti’s romance formula. This research uses Abram’s objective approach and Cawelti’s romance formula theory to analyze the object. This research uses descriptive qualitative method to analyze the data which are the dialogues and narrations of One Day by David Nicholls. There are four steps conducted by the researcher in analyzing the novel to answer the research question. First, the researcher read One Day novel to understand the content. Second, the researcher identified the parameter for data collection and indicated the types of data that should be collected. Third, the researcher searched for the information related to the topic of this research. The last step is arranging, classifying, and describing the data. Based on the analysis, the researcher found several proofs that show One Day novel is classified as romance novel. In this research, the researcher focuses on Emma and Dexter’s struggle to build their love life. Thus, the romance formula of this novel is found, such as their first meeting, the time when they were falling in love, the obstacles along their relationship, their marriage, and the ending of the story. Those steps are obviously completed the requirement of romance formula as mentioned by John G. Cawelti. |
