Jumlah responden 16 pasien.

ABSTRACK

Background: Acute pain in patients with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) majority will continue in chronic pain. Self-induced nursing action with passive Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) and instrumental music can be performed to reduce pain intensity in patients with SCI.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to know the difference of pain before and after the combination therapy of passive PMR and instrumental music.
Method: This research uses pre-experimental method with one-group pre-post test design approach. Determination of taking respondents using consecutive sampling. Number of respondent are 16 patients. Data were collected using an observation sheet, pain intensity was measured using Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Combination therapy is done for 20 minutes by performing instrumental music therapy for 10 seconds, followed by passive PMR therapy along with instrumental music therapy, 10 seconds after passive PMR therapy is completed, music therapy is finished. Measurement of pain intensity was done 5 minutes before therapy and 5 minutes after therapy. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test.
Results: Characteristics The age of respondents varied considerably in the range of 18-60 years old. The majority of respondents are male (68.8%). Pain prior to therapy are in the range of 4 to 6 using Numeric Rating Scale. Post-therapy pain was within the range of 1 to 3. The Wilcoxon test results showed that there was a decrease in pain intensity before and after therapy (p = 0.00).
Conclusion: The combination therapy of passive PMR and instrumental music has an effect on the intensity of pain in patients with SCI
