| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian yang berjudul “Analisis abreviasi pada chatting online “Omegle (Sebuah Kajian Morfologi)” bertujuan untuk menganalisis tipe-tipe abreviasi yang ditemukan di chatting online “Omegle” dan menjelaskan proses formasi abreviasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk menganalisis data. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori dari Haspelmath dan Sims (2010) tentang tipe abreviasi dan teori dari Kridalaksana (2009)tentang tipe abreviasi dan teori proses formasi abreviasi. Hasil penelitian ini meliputi 2 poin utama. Pertama, terdapat 6 tipe abreviasi dari 84 data yang ditemukan di 20 percakapan pada chatting online “Omegle” selama bulan Oktober, 2016; Alphabetisms(39 data), Contractions(22 data), Clippings(12 data), Letter Symbol(5 data), Blends(4 data) and Acronyms(2 data). Alphabetisms adalah jenis abreviasi yang paling banyak muncul di chatting online “Omegle”. Kedua,Perpetuation of Letteradalah proses formasi abreviasi paling dominanyang digunakan di chatting online “Omegle”. Sementara itu, ada 3 variasi formasi abreviasi yang memiliki lebih dari satu tipe abreviasi beberapa tipe abreviasi yang masuk ke dalam variasi formasi abreviasi yang sama; Perpetuation of the first letters of all syllables, Perpetuation of the first letter of each component, and Perpetuation of random letters. Untuk penelitian selanjutnya bisa di fokuskan pada analisis abreviasi yang membahas fenomena lain seperti, iklan komersial, majalah dan media sosial lain dengan menggunakan teori abreviasi lainnya. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | This research entitled “Analysis of Abbreviations in “Omegle” Online Chatting (A Study of Morphology)” aims to identify the types of abbreviation found in “Omegle” online chatting and to explain the process of abbreviations formation. This research used descriptive qualitative method to analyze the data. To answer the research questions, the researcher applied Haspelmath and Sims’s theory (2010) of types of Abbreviations and Kridalaksana’s (2009) theory both types of abbreviations and process of formation. The result of this research covers 2 main points. Firstly, there are six types of abbreviations from 84 data in 20 chattingin October 2016; Alphabetisms (39 data), Contractions (22 data), Clippings (12 data), Letter Symbol (5 data), Blends (4 data) and Acronyms (2 data). Alphabetisms is the most frequent type of abbreviations in “Omegle” online chatting. Secondly, Perpetuation of Letter is the most dominant process of abbreviations formation in “Omegle” online chattingbecause it is mostly easier and shorter. Meanwhile, there are 3 variants of abbreviations formation which have more than one type of abbreviations; Perpetuation of the first letters of all syllables, Perpetuation of the first letter of each component, and Perpetuation of random letters.To future studies, a research can be conductedon analysis of abbreviations in other phenomena such as advertisement, magazine or other social media by using another theory related to abbreviations. |
