| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | The Grimm Conclusion merupakan karya sastra anak yang ditulis oleh Adam Gidwitz. Karya sastra ini digunakan sebagai media untuk mengajarkan anak-anak mengerti pentingnya bersikap baik untuk mengatasi masalah hidup. Orang-orang cenderung melihat iblis memiliki stereotip tertentu sebagai karakter yang jahat dan kejam. Sama halnya pada karakter laki-laki dan perempuan, orang-orang memiliki tipikal karakterisasi dimana laki-laki sebagai orang yang aktif dan independen sendangkan perempuan sebagai orang yang pasif dan dependen. Namun, karya satra memiliki lebih dari satu makna, gambaran yang berhubungan dengan karakter tidak selalu mengikuti stereotip yang ada. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori dekonstruksi yang diperkenalkan oleh Derrida;teori tersebut mengasumsikan bahwa karya sastra tidak bersifat monophony. Berdasarkan penjelasan tersebut, mungkin ada perspektif minor yang dapat ditemukan dalam sebuah teks. Oleh karena itu, perspektif alternatif pada karakterisasi iblis dan gender dapat ditemukan didalam karya sastra anak yang berjudul The Grimm Conclusion ditulis oleh Gidwitz. |

| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | The Grimm Conclusion is the children literature which is written by Adam Gidwitz. This work is used as a medium to educate young children to understand the important of good behavior to overcome hardship in life. People tend to see devils as having a certain stereotype which is evil and cruel creatures. Also in male and female character, people have typical characteristics which are male as active and independent while female as passive and dependent. However, literature has more than one meaning, the image associated with the characters does not always follow the stereotype. This research used deconstruction theory which is introduced by Derrida; the theory assumed that literature is not monophony. From the explanation, there may be a minor perspective that can be found in a text. Therefore, these alternative perspectives of devils and gender characteristics can be found in children literature entitled The Grimm Conclusion by Gidwitz. |
