Penelitian ini membahas tentang bagaimana metode Scrambled Letter Game dipakai untuk mengajar kosa kata. Bagi siswa yang ingin belajar suatu bahasa baru, utamanya bahasa Inggris, penguasaan kosakata adalah hal yang sangat utama, karena kosa kata merupakan salah satu kunci untuk mengerti suatu bahasa. Belajar kosa kata melalui media permainan merupakan cara yang bisa dipakai dan dapat membantu siswa dalam proses belajar. Scrambled Letter Game adalah satu permainan yang dapat digunakan dalam proses belajar mengajar. Untuk memperoleh data, penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasi, wawancara, dan kuesioner dalam mengumpulkan data. Observasi dilakukan untuk mengamati kegiatan belajar mengajar menggunakan metode Scrambled Letter Game. Kemudian, wawancara diadakan setelah observasi kelas berakhir. Wawancara ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pendapat guru dan siswa mengenai metode Scrambled Letter Game, peneliti mewawancarai guru dan lima murid untuk mengetahui hal tersebut. Kuesioner kemudian diberikan kepada siswa. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam penelitian deskriptif kualtatif. Penelitian ini tidak menggunakan pengukuran dan statistic. Data disajikan dalam bentuk deskripsi. Berdasarkan hasil dari observasi, wawancara, dan kuesioner, metode Scrambled Letter Game dapat membantu siswa dalam proses belajar. Metode ini meningkatkan motivasi siswa dalam belajar, membantu memahami pelajaran, dan dapat membantu mengingat kosakata baru. Sebelum permainan dimulai, sebaiknya guru memberikan penjelasan tentang tata cara permainan kepada siswa. Guru juga harus memberikan variasi pada topic dan pertauran game agar tidak terjadi kebosanan. Untuk para murid, mereka harus meningkatkan kemampuan kerjasama mereka agar dapat berpartisipasi aktif dalam proses kegiatan Scrambled Letter Game. Meskipun dalam prakteknya terdapat beberapa permaslahan, keseluruhan metode Scrambled Letter Game sangat membantu dalam proses belajar mengajar. Metode permainan tersebut dapat digunakan oleh guru untuk mengajar kosakata. |

This research discusses about how the scrambled letter game method is applied in teaching vocabulary. For students who want to learn new language, especially English, vocabulary is very important to master, because vocabulary is one of the keys to understand the language. Learning vocabulary through game is one of the many ways to learn and could help the students in the learning process. One of the games that can be used is scrambled letter game. The data in this research were collected through observation, interview, and questionnaire. The observation was held to observe the vocabulary teaching and learning process using scrambled letter game method. Afterwards, the interview was held after the class observation ended. The researcher interviewed the teacher and five students to find out what their opinions are about the scrambled letter game method. Furthermore, the questionnaire was given for the students. This research belongs to descriptive qualitative research. Qualitative research does not involve measurement or statistics. The data were explained descriptively. Based on the findings from the result of observation, interview, and questionnaire, it can be seen that the scrambled letter game method could help the students in the learning process. Scrambled letter game method boosted students’ motivation in learning, helps them understand the lesson better, and could help them to memorize the vocabulary. Before the game was started, it would be better for the teacher to explain the rules clearly to the students. Also, the teacher should add variation in the topic and in the game rules to avoid boredom. For the students, they have to improve their teamwork ability, thus they can involve actively in the process of the scrambled letter game. Although there were some problems in the application of the scrambled letter game method, overall this kind of game is very helpful in the teaching and learning process. Hence, this kind of game could be used by the teacher as the alternative way to teach vocabulary. |
