| Judul Artikel | A Socio-Pragmatic Analysis of Refusal Utterances in Yes Man Movie |
| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian yang berjudul “A Socio-Pragmatic Analysis of Refusal Utterances in Yes Man Movie” ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui tipe-tipe penolakan; (2) mengetahui strategi kesopansatunan; (3) menjelaskan faktor sosial dalam ujaran penolakan yang terjadi pada karakter utama film Yes Man. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif . Dalam menganalisis data, penelitian ini menggunakan teori Beebe et al untuk menganalisa tipe-tipe ujaran penolakan, teori Brown dan Levinson untuk menganalisa strategi kesopansantunan, dan teori Holmes untuk menjelaskan faktor sosial dalam refusal. Data yang digunakan berasal dari ujaran karakter utama dalam film Yes Man. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 76 ujaran penolakan, yaitu adjunct, indirectly dan directly. Strategi kesopanan yang digunakan yaitu off-record indirect strategy, bald on record strategy, negative politeness strategy, dan positive politeness strategy. Kemudian, faktor sosial yang mendominasi kesopanan dalam ujaran penolakan adalah status sosial dan hubungan dari penutur dan lawan tutur. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | The research entitled “A Socio-Pragmatic Analysis of Refusal Utterances in Yes Man Movie” aims to: (1) find the types of refusal; (2) find the types of politeness strategy on refusal; (3) explain social factors on refusal in Yes Man Movie’s main character. This research uses qualitative method. In analyzing the data, this research uses Beebe et al theory to analyze the types of refusal, Brown and Levinson theory to analyze the types of politeness strategy on refusal, Holmes theory to explain social factors on refusal. The primary data is taken from the utterances of Yes Man Movie’s main character. The result of this research shows that there are 76 utterances which contained refusal classifications. They are adjunct, indirectly, and directly refusal. Politeness strategies found in this research are off record indirect strategy, bald on record strategy, negative politeness strategy positive politeness strategy. Then, social factors which dominate refusal in Yes Man Movie are status of the participants and relationship among participants. |
