| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian yang berjudul “Readers’ Perspective on Dogs’ Loyalty in Jack Canfield’s “We are not Alone”, “Little Lost Dog” and “Cheyenne” Short Stories” bertujuan untuk menganalisis pandangan pembaca terhadap kesetiaan anjing dalam tiga cerita pendek yang ditulis oleh Jack Canfield. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Respon Pembaca yang menerapkan pendekatan Kritik Subjektif oleh David Bleich. Kritik Subjektif bekerja melalui sebuah pola dimana pembaca berada dalam sebuah lingkaran yang dipenuhi oleh aspek-aspek tertentu seperti pengalaman pribadi, pendapat psikologis dan tanggapan yang berdasarkan oleh pergantian paradigma, yakni berawal dari sebuah paradikma objektif menjadi paradikma subjektif. Analisa ini ditunjang oleh jawaban pembaca dari kuisioner dan wawancara. Maka, analisa ini menggunakan metode kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk meneliti tanggapan pembaca ketika mereka menginterpretasikan sebuah bacaan. Dalam penelitian ini, pembaca berpendapat bahwa anjing bisa berteman baik dan setia terhadap manusia. Tanggapan tersebut sangat variatif dan unik sebab pengalaman pribadi pembaca mempengaruhi penilaian mereka Hal ini berkaitan dengan teori Respon Pembaca yang dikembangkan oleh David Bleich, dimana ketika seseorang membaca sebuah karya sastra, maka secara otomatis mereka mengikutsertakan diri sendiri ke dalam identitas mereka melalui alam bawah sadar. Pengalaman menaruh kontribusi besar didalam penilaian pembaca terhadap sebuah bacaan. Secara tidak sadar, pembaca mengaitkan bacaan tersebut dengan pengalaman yang mereka miliki. Cara mereka mengukur sebuah cerita dipengaruhi oleh pengalaman mereka dengan anjing. |

Inggris) | The research entitled “Readers’ Perspective on Dogs’ Loyalty in Jack Canfield’s “We are not Alone”, “Little Lost Dog” and “Cheyenne” Short Stories” is aimed to figure out the readers’ perspective on dogs’ loyalty in Jack Canfield’s three short stories. Readers’ Response theory that focuses on Subjective Criticism is used for analyzing the readers’ perspective in Jack Canfield’s three short stories. Subjective criticizes a pattern in which readers are in the loop that the circle highlights a number of aspects such as personal experiences, psychological perspectives and interpretation reposes an paradigm shift, it is objective paradigm to the subjective paradigm. This discussion is supported by the respondents’ questionaire and interview results. The analysis was presented by using qualitative method which purposes to find out what is on readers’ mind while they interpret the text. In this research, readers consider that dogs are human’s best friend and they can be loyal to the master. The responses of the readers are variable and unique because their experiences affect their perspective and this in in line with the theory developed by David Bleich which stated that when someone reads a literary text, the readers subconsciously will insert themselves into the identity of the reading process. Experiences give the contribution to readers’ perspective towards the stories. The respondents unconsciously relate their experiences they have had with the stories. The way the respondents think about the stories they read is affected by their personal experiences with dogs. |
