| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian yang berjudul “An Analysis of Person Deixis on Steve Job’s Speech at Commencement Address of Stanford University” ini bertujuan untuk (1) menganalisis tipe deiksis personal, dan (2) menganalisis deiksis personal yang dominan. Populasi penelitian ini adalah semua personal deiksis yang ditemukan di pidato, sedangkan sampel penelitian adalah deiksis personal orang pertama, orang kedua, dan orang ketiga yang menunjukkan peran, pengaruh, dan inspirasi. Dalam proses analisis data, pendekatan pragmatik dan teori personal deiksis digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Penelitian ini menganalisis tipe personal deiksis menggunakan teori Levinson yang dilanjutkan dengan menemukan dominan deiksis dalam pidato tersebut. Dalam penelitian ini, ditemukan 229 deiksis personal yang dibagi menjadi tiga tipe; (1) 154 deiksis personal orang pertama, (2) 50 deiksis personal orang kedua, dan (3) 25 deiksis personal orang ketiga. Ada dua bentuk dalam setiap tipe yaitu tunggal dan jamak, dan tiga fungsi yaitu subjek, kepemilikan dan objek. Dari semua deiksis tersebut, deiksis yang dominan adalah deiksis personal orang pertama yang berbentuk tunggal dan berfungsi sebagai subjek karena deiksis tersebut banyak digunakan dan tipe pidato tersebut adalah narasi yang menceritakan tentang pengalaman pembicara. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | The research entitled " An Analysis of Person Deixis on Steve Jobs’s Speech at Commencement Address of Stanford University " aims to: (1) analyze the types of person deixis, and (2) analyze the dominant person deixis;. The researcher used qualitative method for analyzing the main data of the research. Population of this research was all person deixis found in the speech, while the samples were first, second, third person deixis that showed role, influence, insipiration. To analyze the data, pragmatic approach and theory of deixis were used. The study examined the types of person deixis in the speech by using Levinson’s theory. Then, the researcher found the dominant person deixis in the speech. The result shows that there are 229 person deixis which are divided into three; (1) 154 data of first person deixis, (2) 50 data of second person deixis, and (3) 25 data of third person deixis. Each type of deixis is divided into two forms and three functions. The forms are singular and plural, and the functions are subject, possessive adjectives and object. From those deixis, the dominant deixis is first person singular deixis as subject because this deixis became so frequently used and the type of the speech was narrative which told about speaker’s experiences. |
