| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Telah dilakukan sintesis crosslink kitosan-tripolifosfat (TPP) dan aplikasinya dalam penurunan kadar methyl orange. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik kitosan dan crosslink kitosan-TPP, kondisi optimum dan kapasitas adsorpsi crosslink kitosan-TPP terhadap methyl orange. Sintesis crosslink kitosan-TPP dilakukan dengan mereaksikan larutan kitosan dan larutan natrium tripolifosfat pH 3. Kitosan dan crosslink kitosan-TPP selanjutnya dikarakterisasi dengan FTIR. Crosslink kitosan-TPP hasil sintesis kemudian digunakan untuk mengadsorpsi methyl orange. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, spektra IR menunjukkan telah terbentuknya kitosan dengan adanyanya gugus –NH2 pada bilangan gelombang 1589,34 cm-1 dan crosslink kitosan-TPP dengan adanya gugus –PO pada bilangan gelombang 1026,13 cm-1. Crosslink kitosan-TPP dapat mengadsorpsi methyl orange sebesar 5,255 x 10-8 mol/g.

| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | Synthesis of chitosan-tripolyphosphate crosslink and its application for methyl orange adsorpstion has been done. The aim of this study was to determine differences of the characteristics of chitosan and crosslink chitosan-TPP, optimum condition and adsorption capacity of crosslink chitosan-TPP toward methyl orange. The synthesis of chitosan- tripolyphosphate crosslink was performed by reacting chitosan solution and sodium tripolyphosphate solution (pH 3). The chitosan and chitosan-tripolyphosphate crosslink then characterized by FTIR.The study about chitosan-tripolyphosphate crosslink adsorption toward methyl orange. FTIR characterization showed the formation of chitosan presence of –NH2 groups in spectra 1589,34 cm-1 and crosslink chitosan-TPP presence of –PO groups in spectra 1026, 13 cm-1. Crosslink chitosan-tripolyphospate could adsorp methyl orange with the adsorption capacity 5,255 x 10-8 mol/g.
