| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Permukaan basis gigitiruan nilon termoplastik derajat kristalin tinggi yang kasar dapat menyebabkan kolonisasi dari spesies jamur, salah satunya yaitu Candida albicans. Penambahan substansi antijamur pada soft-liner¬ pada permukaan basis gigitiruan dapat menurunkan perlekatan C. albicans. Substansi antijamur yang ditambahkan pada soft-liner untuk penelitian ini yaitu ekstrak kulit batang M. oleifera karena diduga mengandung tanin, steroid, flavonoid, alkaloid, dan saponin. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan ekstrak kulit batang M. oleifera pada soft-liner terhadap perlekatan C. albicans pada permukaan basis gigitiruan nilon termoplastik derajat kristalin tinggi. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimental laboratoris yang menggunakan 12 sampel nilon termoplastik derajat kristalin tinggi yang dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok. Kelompok perlakuan diberi soft-liner yang mengandung ekstrak kulit batang M. oleifera, kelompok kontrol positif diberi soft-liner yang mengandung nistatin, dan kelompok kontrol negatif tidak diberikan bahan tambahan pada soft-liner. Setiap kelompok direndam dalam suspensi C. albicans dan diinkubasi selama 12 jam dengan suhu 37°C, kemudian seluruh sampel ditanam pada media Saboroud Dextrose Agar dan jumlah koloni dihitung dengan alat colony counter. Hasil rerata untuk kelompok perlakuan sebanyak 10,75 x 104 CFU/ml, rerata kelompok kontrol positif sebanyak 26,25 x 104 CFU/ml, dan kelompok kontrol negatif sebanyak 97 x 104 CFU/ml. Uji Kruskal Wallis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara jumlah perlekatan C. albicans pada kelompok perlakuan, kelompok kontrol positif, dan kelompok kontrol negatif dengan nilai p = 0,007 (p<0,05). Penambahan ekstrak kulit batang M. oleifera pada soft-liner yang diaplikasikan pada basis gigitiruan nilon termoplastik derajat kristalin tinggi dapat menghambat perlekatan C. albicans. |

| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | The rough surface of the high crystallin nylon thermoplastic denture base could cause colonization of fungal species, one of them is Candida albicans. The addition of an antifungal substance on the soft-line in the surface of the denture base could decrease the adherence of C. albicans. The antifungal substance which has been added to soft-liner for this research was the bark extract of M. oleifera because it allegedly contains tannins, steroids, flavonoids, alkaloids and saponins. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of M. oleifera stem bark extract in soft-liner to C. albicans adhesion on the surface of the high crystallin nylon thermoplastic denture base. This study was an experimental laboratory used 12 samples of high crystallin nylon thermoplastic divided into 3 groups. The treatment group was given soft-liner containing stem bark extract of M. oleifera, the positive control group was given a soft-liner containing nystatin, and the negative control group was not given additional material on a soft-liner. Each group was soaked in C. albicans suspension and incubated for 12 hours at 37°C, then the entire samples were grown on Saboroud Dextrose Agar and the number of colonies was calculated with colony counter. The mean results of the treatment group was 10.75 x 104 CFU/ml, positive control group was 26.25 x 104 CFU/ml, and negative control group was 97 x 104 CFU/ml. Kruskal Wallis test showed that there was a significant difference between the number of C. albicans adhesion on the treatment group, positive control group and negative control group with p = 0.007 (p <0.05). The addition of M. oleifera stem bark extract in soft-liner which were applied to the high crystallin nylon thermoplastic denture base might prohibited adherence of C. albicans. |
