(Survey on Customer Service and Tellers of Banks in Purwokerto)
Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)The aims of this research were to find out the significant influence of competence on organizational performance and to find out the moderation role of impression management on the influence of competence on organizational performance. This research was conducted at the branch offices of banks in Purwokerto. Method of study was survey with the sampling technique used was convenience sampling. Population of this research was total number of customer service and teller of bank branches in Purwokerto. Refers to the result of Slovin formula, it was found the sample size of 43 respondents. Furthermore, the technique data analysis used in this study was simple regression model and moderated regression analysis. Based on the result of data analysis, it could be concluded that employees’ competence has a significant influence on organizational performance and impression management moderates the influence of employees’ competence on organizational performance. Refers to these conclusions, it could be implied that as an effort to increase the organizational performance, managers of banking companies’ branch office Purwokerto needs to pay attention on employees’ competence and impression management. The ways can be done by apply the regular coaching sessions and training program. While coaching does not necessarily teach new skills, it provides constructive feedback and assistance to improve current ones. This allows employees to perform to the best of their ability, opening the door for more learning opportunities once they have a solid foundation. Additionally, managers need to increase the employees’ responsibility is both effective for morale and improving competencies. Adding an extra element of challenge will give employees something new to do, forcing them to sharpen their current skills while simultaneously building new ones
