| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui pengaruh kitosan terhadap peningkatan serapan N untuk pertumbuhan bibit anggrek dendrobium, (2) mengetahui pengaruh dosis pupuk NH4NO3 yang diberikan melalui daun terhadap peningkatan serapan N untuk pertumbuhan bibit anggrek dendrobium, dan (3) mencari kombinasi perlakuan yang baik antara kitosan dan dosis pupuk NH4NO3 untuk pertumbuhan bibit anggrek dendrobium. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada rumah plastik, laboratorium penelitian dan laboratorium perlindungan tanaman Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Jenderal Soedirman dari Januari sampai Mei 2015. Penelitian ini merupakan percobaan pot dengan rancangan faktorial 3x3 dengan 3 ulangan. Satu unit percobaan terdiri dari 3 pot tanaman. Faktor pertama adalah dosis pupuk NH4NO3, terdiri dari 3 taraf yaitu 96,04 mg/tanaman, 19,94 mg/tanaman, 287,98 mg/tanaman. Faktor kedua adalah frekuensi penyemprotan kitosan konsentrasi 3 ppm terdiri dari 3 taraf yaitu tanpa penyemprotan kitosan, kitosan disemprotkan setiap 2 minggu, dan kitosan disemprot sekali dalam seminggu. Variabel yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah akar, panjang akar, jumlah anakan, jumlah dan ukuran daun stomata, serapan N dan nitrat reduktase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penyemprotan kitosan tidak meningkatkan serapan N, tetapi mengurangi ukuran stomata, dan meningkatkan anakan dan jumlah akar. Peningkatan dosis pupuk NH4NO3 mengakibatkan peningkatan serapan N, jumlah stomata, jumlah daun, jumlah anakan dan bobot tanaman kering. Aplikasi pupuk NH4NO3 287,98 mg/tanaman dan penyemprotan kitosan seminggu sekali meningkatkan jumlah akar, jumlah anakan dan bobot tanaman kering.

Inggris) | The purpose of this study were (1) knowing the effect of chitosan to increase N uptake for the growth of dendrobium orchid seedlings, (2) knowing the influence of doses of NH4NO3 fertilizer provided through the leaves to increase N uptake for the growth of dendrobium orchid seedling, and (3) looking for a good treatment combination of chitosan and doses of NH4NO3 fertilizer for the growth of dendrobium orchid seedlings. The research was conducted at a plastic-house, research laboratory and plant protection laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, the Jenderal Soedirman University from January to May 2015. The research was pot experiments arranged in factorial block design of 3x3 with 3 replications. One experiment unit was consisted of 3 plant pots. The first factor was NH4NO3 doses consisting of 3 levels i.e. 96.04 mg/plant, 19.94 mg/plant, 287.98 mg/plant. The second factor was the frequency of 3 ppm chitosan spraying consisting of 3 levels i.e. without chitosan spraying, chitosan was sprayed every 2 weeks, and chitosan was sprayed once in a week. The observed variables were plant height, number of leaves, number of roots, roots length, number of tillers, number and size of stomata leaves, N uptake and nitrate reductase. Result showed that chitosan spraying did not increased the N uptake, but it reduced the size of stomates, and it increased tillers and number of roots. Increasing doses of NH4NO3 resulted in the increase of N uptake, the number of stomates, the number of leaves, the number of tillers and the weight of dried plants. Application of fertilizers NH4NO3 287,98 mg/plants and spraying chitosan once a week increased the number of roots, the number of tillers and the weight of dried plant.
