Indonesia) | Gelidium latifolium merupakan salah satu dari jenis rumput laut yang berpotensi sebagai bahan baku industri, tetapi sampai saat ini belum dibudidayakan karena jenis substrat yang sesuai belum diketahui. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui laju pertumbuhan thallus dan holdfast, serta jumlah holdfast rumput laut G. latifolium pada berbagai jenis substrat buatan di Pantai Timur Pangndaran, Jawa Barat. Penelitian dilakukan selama 3 bulan mulai bulan Mei - Juli 2015 dengan menggunakan metode Eksperimental dan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Perlakuan penelitian menggunakan substrat buatan berupa semen blok (A), genteng (B) ,dan batu karang (C) dengan masing-masing dibuat 3 kali ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa laju pertumbuhan thallus G. latifolium tertinggi terdapat pada substrat batu karang (0,507%) diikuti substrat semen blok (0,415%) dan terendah substrat genteng (0,072%). Laju pertumbuhan holdfast G. latifolium tertinggi terdapat pada substrat batu karang (0,824 mm/hari) diikuti substrat semen blok (0,568 mm/hari) dan terendah substrat genteng (0,233 mm/hari). Laju pertumbuhan biomassa G. latifolium tertinggi terdapat pada substrat batu karang (0,0180 g/hari) diikuti substrat semen blok (0,017 g/hari) dan terendah substrat genteng (0.0093 g/hari). Sintasan G. latifolium tertinggi terdapat pada substrat batu karang (63,33%) diikuti substrat semen blok (60%) dan substrat genteng (60%). Jumlah holfast G. latifolium paling banyak (6) terdapat pada substrat batu karang di ikuti substrat semen blok (4) dan paling sedikit substrat genteng (3). |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | Gelidium latifolium is one of seaweed species that is potentially used as industrial raw material, but unfortunately until now it has not cultivated succesfully. One of the obstacle to cultivate this species is because of lack information of the suitable substrate type . This research aimed to know the growth rate of thallus and holdfast, and holdfast amount of seaweed G. latifolium on various types of artificial substrates which were cultivated in the East Pangandaran Coast, West Java. The experiment was conducted for 3 months starting in May to July 2015 by using experimental methods and completely randomized design (CRD). In this research three different treatments were applied, they were an artificial substrates cement blocks (A), tile (B), and rock (C), each treatments were made of 3 repetitions. The results showed that the highest growth rate of G. latifolium thallus (0,507%) was found in the coral substrates, followed by the substrates cement blocks (0,415%) and the tile substrate (0,072%). The highest G. latifolium holdfast growth rate was found in the rock substrate (0,824 mm /day) followed by a block of cement substrate (0,568 mm/day) and the lowest one was found in tile substrate (0,233 mm/day). The highest G. latifolium biomass growth rate is found in the coral substrates (0,0180 g/day) followed by a substrates cement blocks (0,017 g/day) and the tile substrate (0,0093 g /day). The highest survival rate of G. latifolim was found in the rock substrates (63.33%), followed by the cement substrate block (60%), and tile substrate (60%). The highest number of holdfast G. latifolium (6) was found in the coral substrates, followed by substrates cement blocks (4), and tile substrate (3). |
