| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji kualitas fisik dedak padi di daerah Purwokerto dan sekitarnya ditinjau dari karakteristik dedak padi (luas permukaan spesifik dan berat jenis) antara Rice Mill dan Poultry Shop. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode survei lapang dengan menggunakan sampel 40kg dedak padi yang diambil dari 10 Rice Mill dan 10 Poultry Shop. Variabel yang diukur adalah berat jenis dan luas permukaan spesifik. Pengukuran berat jenis, kadar air dan luas permukaan spesifik dilakukan setiap hari pada pukul 10.00. Hasil perhitungan luas permukaan spesifik dedak padi di Poultry Shop adalah 44.99 g/cm2 sedangkan di Rice Mill 56.29 g/cm2. Hasil penghitungan berat jenis dedak padi di Poultry Shop yaitu 0,298 g/ml sedangkan hasil perhitungan berat jenis dedak padi di Rice Mill yaitu 0,266 g/ml. Berdasarkan hasil uji t berat jenis dan uji t luas permukaan spesifik, kualitas dedak padi di Rice Mill lebih bagus dari poultry shop. |

| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | This research aims to assess physical qualities of rice bran, i.e. the characteristic of its specific surface area and density, in Purwokerto and its environs. The method used is a field survey using 40kg of rice bran taken from 10 Rice Mills and 10 Poultry Shops as the research samples. The variables being measured are the density and the specific surface area of the bran. Measurement of density, water content and specific surface area is performed at 10 am everyday. According to the calculation, the specific surface area of the bran in the Poultry Shops is 44.99 g/cm2, while that in the Rice Mills is 56.29 g/cm2, the density of the bran in the Poultry Shops is 0.298 g/ml, while in the Rice Mills is 0.266 g/ml. Based on the t tests of the density and the specific surface area, the quality of rice bran in the Rice Mills is better than that of in Poultry Shops. |
