| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Koagulasi merupakan proses penggumpalan partikel – partikel koloid yang efektif untuk pengolahan limbah industri yang mengandung logam berat. Pada penelitian ini digunakan koagulan ramah lingkungan yaitu ferrat (FeO4)2-. Ferrat dalam pengolahan air dan air limbah berperilaku sebagai oksidan dan koagulan secara bersamaan sehingga tidak menghasikan produk samping yang berbahaya, oleh karena itu dapat dikatakan bahwa ferrat merupakan koagulan yang ramah lingkungan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui efektifitas ferrat sebagai koagulan pada penurunan logam Cr dalam limbah elektroplating. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa koagulan ferrat bekerja efektif pada pH 8,3 dengan persentase penurunan untuk kadar logam berat kromium total, Cr(VI), Cr(III) masing – masing sebesar 99,973%, 99,972%, 99,976% dengan volume ferrat yang digunakan sebanyak 25 mL.

| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | Coagulation is a process the clumping colloidal particles which are effective for waste processing industry containing heavy metal. To research is used coagulan environmentally friendly namely ferrate (FeO4)2-. Ferrate in water treatment and the waste water behaves as oxidant and coagulant simultaneously so it does not produce a side product which is harmful , therefore it can be said that ferrate an environmentally friendly coagulant .The purpose of this research is to know the effectiveness of ferrate as coagulant to a reduction of metal Cr in electroplating waste .The research results show that coagulant ferrat perform effectively at ph 8.3 with the percentage decline to levels of heavy metals chromium total , Cr(VI), Cr(III) is as much as 99,973 % , 99,972 % , 99,976 % to the volume of ferrate used as many as 25 mL.
