| Judul Artikel | Lexical Cohesion Analysis on Trygve Lie’s Memorandum entitled Memorandum of Points for Consideration in the Development of a Twenty-Year Program for Achieving Peace through the United Nations |
| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian berjudul " Lexical Cohesion Analysis on Trygve Lie’s Memorandum entitled Memorandum of Points for Consideration in the Development of a Twenty-Year Program for Achieving Peace through the United Nations" bertujuan untuk menemukan bagaimana konteks dan kohesi leksikal mendukung teks yang koheren terutama pada memorandum. Data utama pada penelitian ini adalah satuan unit dalam bentuk kalimat yang berisi alat kohesi terutama kohesi leksikal yang mendukung konteks dan keutuhan pada memorandum Trygve Lie. Teknik total sampling digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk mendapatkan data yang relevan. Kemudian, peneliti menganalisis kalimat- kalimat tersebut menggunakan teori oleh Halliday dan Hasan tentang konteks dan kohesi, terutama kohesi leksikal. Hasil analisis tersebut disajikan menggunakan metode kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan konteks memorandum yang dibagi menjadi tiga bagian; field, tenor dan mode, memiliki hubungan dengan kelas-kelas kohesi leksikal seperti, repetition, synonym and near synonym, hyponym and superordinate, general world dan collocation. Peneliti menemukan bahwa penggunaan kohesi leksikal yang paling banyak adalah repetition dan yang paling sedikit digunakan adalah general word. Penggunaan kohesi leksikal pada memorandum tersebut tidak keluar dari topik atau konteks pembahasan dan hubungan tersebut menyajikan teks yang koheren. Kesimpulannya, penelitian ini menunjukan perbedaan penggunaan kelas leksikal kohesi pada memorandum. Tetapi, perbedaan tersebut tidak keluar dari konteks dan tetap mendukung gagasan pada konteks tersebut. Oleh karena itu, memorandum tersebut dilihat sebagai teks yang koheren. |

Inggris) | The research entitled “Lexical Cohesion Analysis on Trygve Lie’s Memorandum entitled Memorandum of Points for Consideration in the Development of a Twenty-Year Program for Achieving Peace through the United Nations" was aimed to find out how context and lexical cohesion support the coherent text particularly in memorandum. The primary source of this research was lingual unit in the form of sentences which contain cohesive devices especially lexical cohesion that support context and unity in Trygve Lie’s memorandum. Total sampling technique was applied in this research to obtain relevant data. Then, the researcher analyzed the sentences using Halliday and Hasan theory about context and cohesion, especially lexical cohesion. The analysis was presented by using qualitative method. The result of the research showed the context of the memorandum which is divided into three parts; field, tenor and mode have correlation with lexical cohesion classes, such as, repetition, synonym and near synonym, hyponym and superordinate, general world and collocation. The researcher found that most of lexical cohesion used was repetition and the least used was general word. The use of lexical cohesion in the memorandum was not out the topic or context and they present the coherent text. The conclusion of the research showed the differentiation of lexical cohesion classes’ usage in memorandum. However, that differentiation was not out of the context and still supports the idea of the context. Thus, the memorandum was seen as a coherent text. |
