Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)Ikan nila (Oreochromis sp.)adalah komoditas perikanan budidaya air tawar yang bersifat
eurihaline, dapat hidup pada kisaran salinitas antara 0-35 ppt, sehingga dapat dibudidayakan pada
perairan payau. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh peningkatan salinitas secara
gradual terhadap kadar glukosa darah dan sintasan benih ikan nila. Metode eksperimen
berdasarkan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dilakukan dalam penelitian ini. Benih ikan nila
dikelompokan menjadi tiga dengan rangkaian perubahan salinitas yang berbeda, P1 (0 ppt - 0 ppt0
ppt),
P2
(6
ppt
– 12 ppt – 18 ppt), P3 (18 ppt – 18 ppt – 18 ppt). Pengukuran kadar glukosa darah
dilakukan pada hari ke-4, 6 dan 8 pemeliharaan dengan menggunakan alat uji glukosa (GlucoDr)dan sintasan diamati setiap hari. Kadar glukosa darah meningkat secara signifikan akibat
peningkatan salinitas namun tidak dipengaruhi oleh sistem gradual. Namun demikian sistem
gradual memberi sintasan yang lebih tinggi (81,25%) dibandingkan perubahan salinitas secara
langsung (56,25%).
Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris)Nile tilapia (Oreochromis sp.), a commodity in freshwater fish farming is eurihaline, which
can survive in the range between 0-35 ppt of salinity, therefore it can be cultured in brackish
waters. This study aimed to determine the effect of a gradual change in salinity on blood glucose
levels and survival of tilapia. An experimental method based on completely randomized design
was done in this study. Tilapia fish was grouped into three with a series of different salinity
changes, P1 (0 ppt - 0 ppt-0 ppt), P2 (6 ppt - 12 ppt - 18 ppt), P3 (18 ppt - 18 ppt - 18 ppt).
Measurement of blood glucose levels was done on day 4, 6 and 8 by using a glucose test equipment
(GlucoDr) and survival rate was observed every day. Blood glucose levels increased significantly
due to increase of salinity but were not affected by gradual change of salinity. However, gradual
change gave a higher survival rate (81.25%) compared to direct changes of salinity (56.25%).
