Secara fisiografi daerah penelitian termasuk ke dalam Zona Pegunungan Serayu selatan dan sangat erat kaitannya dengan desakan lempeng tektonik Hindia-Australia yang bergerak relatif ke utara dan menunjam di bawah lempeng benua Eurasia.
