Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)Perakitan varietas baru dapat dilakukan dengan beberapa cara diantaranya yaitu dengan mutagen iradiasi sinar gamma. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) mengetahui pengaruh radiasi terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil klon kentang yang ditanam di dataran medium, 2) mengetahui pengaruh radiasi terhadap warna umbi dan warna kulit umbi klon kentang yang ditanam di dataran medium 3) mendapatkan klon kentang hasil radiasi sinar gamma yang berpotensi dikembangkan di dataran medium. Penelitian dilaksanakan dari bulan April sampai Agustus 2014 dengan iradiasi sinar gamma yaitu 30, 35 dan 40 Gy yang dilakukan di Pusat Aplikasi Teknologi Isotop dan Radiasi, Badan Tenaga Nuklir Nasional Jakarta. Setelah umbi diradiasi kemudian ditanam di Desa Gandatapa, Sumbang. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan yaitu Rancangan tersarang (Augmented Design) dengan tiga varietas cek. Variabel yang diamati meliputi saat muncul tunas (hst), persentase tanaman tumbuh (%), tinggi tanaman (cm), jumlah daun (daun), diameter batang (mm), bobot umbi per tanaman (g), jumlah umbi (umbi), diameter umbi (mm), warna kulit umbi, warna umbi, bobot tanaman segar (g), dan bobot tanaman kering (g). Hasil penelitian adalah radiasi menyebabkan pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman kentang di dataran medium beragam. Radiasi tidak merubah warna umbi dan warna kulit umbi. Klon GD1-44 dan GD2-33 menghasilkan bobot umbi dan diameter umbi yang melebihi ceknya sehingga berpotensi untuk dikembangkan di dataran medium.
Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris)Plant breeding can be undertaken by using gamma irradiation. Aims of this research were: 1) to know effect of radiation on growth and production of granola planted on medium elevation, 2) to know effect of radiation on bulb and skin color of bulb planted on medium elevation, 3) to select potato clon resulted from gamma irradiation that is potential to be developed on medium elevation. The research was conducted from April to August 2014 with gamma irradiation dose is 30, 35, and 40 Gy were done in “Technology Isotop and Radiation, Badan Tenaga Nuklir Nasional” Jakarta. Irradiated tubers were planted in the Gandatapa village, Sumbang. Augmented design was used in this reserch with three checked varieties. Variable observed in this research were time of shoot emerge (days after planting), percentage of plant growth (%), plant height (cm), number of leaves (leaves), diameter of plant stem (mm), weight of tuber crops (g), number of tubers (tubers), diameter of tuber (mm), tuber skin color, color bulb, fresh weight (g) and dry weight (g) of plants. The results showed that radiation cause variation on growth and production medium elevation. Gamma irradiation did not change color of tuber and tuber skin. Clone GD1-44 and GD2-33 produced tuber weight and tuber diameter higher than that of checked varietis and potential to be developed medium elevation.
