| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian ini berjudul “Exploring Anxiety of The Students of The Twelfth Grade in Senior High School When Encountering National Examination in English Subject (A case study in SMA Diponegoro 1 Purwokerto, Academic Year 2013/2014)”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji tentang alasan-alasan yang memicu pelajar kelas 12 mengalami kekhawatiran dalam menghadapi UN Bahasa Inggris, untuk mengetahui masalah-masalah yang timbul diakibatkan oleh pengalaman kekhawatiran para pelajar kelas 12 dari SMA Diponegoro 1 Purwokerto untuk menghadapi Ujian Nasional Bahasa Inggris, dan untuk mencari tahu cara para pelajar menanggulangi masalah mereka. Dalam mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan empat instrument pengumpulan data, yaitu wawancara, observasi, questioner dan analisis dokumen. Peneliti mewawancarai para siswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada November 2013 hingga Maret 2014. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa para siswa merasakan khawatir baik sebelum ataupun saat UN Bahasa Inggris berlangsung. Terdapat 2 faktor, internal dan eksternal yang menyebabkan para siswa merasa cemas terhadap UN Bahasa Inggris. Contohnya ketakutan tidak bisa lulus UN Bahasa Inggris dan perasaan stress karena perceraian orang tua. Kekhawatiran mereka ini berpengaruh pada kinerja belajar mereka. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari nilai hasil uji coba UN Bahasa Inggris mereka. Disisi lain, rasa cemas bisa memberikan efek positif dan negative bagi para siswa. Sebagai efek negatifnya, para siswa mencontek dan mencari bocoran jawaban UN Bahasa Inggris. Sedangkan efek positifnya, para siswa rutin mengerjakan sholat sunnah tahajjud atau duha. Sebagai tambahan, para siswa juga telah mempersiapkan solusi atas kecemasan mereka terhadap hal ini, yang terdiri dari persiapan menjelang dan tindakan saat UN Bahasa Inggris berlangsung. |

Inggris) | The research is entitled “Exploring Anxiety of The Students of The Twelfth Grade in Senior High School When Encountering National Examination in English Subject (A case study in SMA Diponegoro 1 Purwokerto, Academic Year 2013/2014)”. The research is aimed to explore the reasons provoked the twelfth grade students getting anxious in facing English NE, to know problems caused by the anxiety experienced by the twelfth grade students of SMA Diponegoro 1 Purwokerto when doing the English NE, and to find out the ways students overcome the problems. In collecting the data, the researcher used four instruments consisting of an interview, observation, questionnaire and documentary analysis. The researcher interviewed the students. The observation was held on November 2013 until March 2014. The result showed that students felt anxious toward English NE whether before and during the English NE. The reasons why did students feel anxious toward English NE were because of internal and external factor. Such as fear of not being able to pass the English NE and feeling stressful of parents’ divorce. These anxieties affected to their learning performance. It could be seen from their scores on tryout test of the English NE. Besides, students could get positive and negative effects of feeling anxious toward English NE. The negative effect made students doing negative thing such as cheating during the English NE and seeking the answer key outside the school. While the positive effect made students doing positive thing such as doing sholat sunnah tahajjud or duha. In addition, students also had prepared a good solution for their problems. They made two points of solution in facing it. The first was their preparation before facing the English NE. The second was their actions during the English NE. |
