Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan tipe-tipe imperatif, serta hubungan antara struktur dan fungsi yang membentuk ujaran imperative yang digunakan dalam film Mean Girls oleh karakter- karakternya. Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data yang digunakan adalah film Mean Girls, dan data dari penelitian ini adalah ujaran- ujaran imperatif yang ada dalam film tersebut. Data dianalisis melalui teori tindak tutur dan dianalisis berdasarkan konteks ujaran. Teknik sampel bertujuan digunakan untuk memperoleh data yang relevan. Temuan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 194 ujaran- ujaran yang mengandung imperatif. Ujaran- ujaran tersebut terdiri dari perintah (29 ujaran), peringatan (13 ujaran), ancaman (1 ujaran), anjuran (10 ujaran), permintaan (42 ujaran), penawaran (6 ujaran), larangan (5 ujaran), suruhan (39 ujaran), persilaan (2 ujaran), meminta (5 ujaran), usulan (13 ujaran), ajakan (9 ujaran), imbauan (13 ujaran), rekomendasi (1 ujaran), umpatan (1 ujaran), pemberitaan (2 ujaran), tuntutan (1 ujaran), permohonan (1 ujaran) and harapan (1 ujaran). Terdapat dua tipe hubungan yang membangun ujaran imperatif, yaitu tindak tutur langsung 98 ujaran dan tindak tutur tidak langsung 96 ujaran. Berdasarkan data yang ada, Peneliti menemukan bahwa permintaan sebagai kategori dari imperatif yang paling sering digunakan dalam film Mean Girls. Selanjutnya, peneliti menemukan bahwa tokoh- tokoh dalam film Mean Girls menggunakan tindak tutur langsung dan tidak langsung dalam hubungan antara struktur dan fungsi yang membentuk ujaran imperatif. Hasil menunjukan bahwa tokoh- tokoh dalam film Mean Girls melakukan 98 ujaran tindak tutur langsung dan 96 ujaran tindak tutur tidak langsung. Penggunaan dari setiap tipe dipengaruhi oleh konteks situasi dan interaksi social yang meliputi ujaran- ujaran tersebut. Tindak tutur langsung muncul dalam keadaan- keadaan tertentu seperti keakraban, dalam menunjuk anak kecil atau orang-orang dibawah wewenang atau kekuatan dari si pembicara, atau dalam situasi berbahaya. Kemudian, penggunaan dari tindak tutur tidak langsung cenderung menolak keadaan-keadaan tersebut. |

Aims of the research are to find out the types of imperative, and to reveal the relationship between the structure and the function that constructs imperative utterance produced by the characters of movie Mean Girls. This research was analyzed by descriptive qualitative approach. The source of the data is movie “Mean Girls”, and the data were any imperative utterances which exist in the story. Then, the data collected were analyzed through Speech act theory and conducted based on the context of speech. Purposive sampling technique is used to obtain relevant data only. The findings of this study revealed that the characters perform 194 utterances which contain imperative utterances. They are command (29 utterances), warning (13 utterances), threat (1 utterances), advice (10 utterances), request (42 utterances), offer (6 utterances), prohibition (5 utterances), order (39 utterances), permission (2 utterances), ask (5 utterances), suggestion (13 utterances), invitation (9 utterances), forbid (13 utterances), recommendation (1 utterance), curse (1 utterance), tell (2 utterances), demand (1 utterance), beg (1 utterance) and Good-wish (1 utterance). Then, there are two types of relationship that construct imperative utterance. Those are 98 utterances of direct speech acts and 96 utterances of indirect speech acts. Based on the data, the researcher found that request is the most used category of imperative in “Mean Girls” movie. Then, the researcher found out that the characters in movie Mean Girls used direct and indirect correlation between the structure and the function that construct imperative utterance. The result showed that the characters perform 98 utterances of direct speech act and 96 utterances of indirect speech act. The use of each type influence by the context of situation and the social interaction that cover the utterances. Direct speech act appear in specific circumstances of great intimacy, in addressing small children or people under authority or power of the speaker, or situations of imminent danger. Then the use of indirect speech act tends to avoid those specific circumstances. |
