Pembimbing 1 : Dr. Syaifur Rochman, M.Ed, TESOL Pembimbing 2 : Dian Adiarti, S.Pd, M.Hum Penelitian ini berjudul Problems Encountered by Students and Lecturers in Using Presentation Technique for Delivering the Lecture (A Case Study in the 6th Semester Students of English Language and Literature Program in Jenderal Soedirman University in Academic Year 2013/2014). Ide umum penelitian ini adalah teknik yang digunakan dalam perkuliahan. Sedangkan, gagasan pokok penelitian ini adalah masalah-masalah yang dihadapi mahasiswa dan dosen dalam penggunaan teknik presentasi saat perkuliahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana penerapan teknik presentasi dalam perkuliahan, masalah-masalah yang dihadapi oleh mahasiswa dan dosen dalam penggunaan teknik presentasi, serta opini mahasiswa dan dosen dalam penggunaan teknik presentasi saat perkuliahan. Peneliti menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data diperoleh dari observasi, kuesioner, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Oleh karena itu, penelliti menggunakan data triangulasi untuk validasi data. Kemudian, data tersebut dianalisis melalui data reduksi, data display, pemberian kesimpulan, dan verifikasi. Hasil dari analisa data, peneliti menemukan beberapa masalah yang dihadapi mahasiswa dan dosen dalam penggunaan teknis presentasi untuk perkuliahan: 1) Banyak mahasiswa yang tidak dapat memahami materi secara mudah dan jelas melalui teknik presentasi. 2) Kurangnya antusias mahasiswa dalam penggunaan teknik presentasi ini, sehingga mereka merasa bosan dan mengabaikan presentasi. 3) Kurangnya keahlian mahasiswa dalam menyampaikan presentasi, sehingga menyebabkan mereka masih merasa kesulitan dalam mengaplikasikan teknik presentasi dalam perkuliahan. 4) Kurangnya pengelolaan waktu perkuliahan yang terbatas membuat diskusi terkadang belum tuntas dan timbal balik tidak dapat dilaksanakan. 5) Untuk beberapa dosen, sikap dan respon mahasiswa yang kurang sesuai dapat mempengaruhi jalannya proses perkuliahan. Faktanya, teknik presentasi tidak dapat memotivasi mahasiswa untuk mengembangkan kemampuan mereka lebih dalam. 6) Tidak semua fasilitas mendukung jalannya presentasi dengan baik. Kesimpulannya, teknik presentasi yang digunakan dalam perkuliahan tidak berarti buruk atau gagal, namun diperlukan adanya perbaikan atau pengembangan agar menciptakan proses pembelajaran yang lebih baik dan efektif. |

The general idea of this research is technique for delivering the lecture. Meanwhile, the main idea of this research is problems encountered by students and lecturers in using presentation technique. The purposes of this research are to know the implementation of using presentation technique for delivering the lecture, problems encountered by students and lecturers in using presentation technique for delivering the lecture, and opinions of students and lecturers in using presentation technique for delivering the lecture. The researcher used a descriptive qualitative method. The data were taken from observation, questionnaire, interview, and documentation. The researcher used a triangulation method to validate the data. Then, the data were analyzed by using qualitative ways; including data reduction, data display, data analysis, conclusion, and verification. Results of data analysis indicated problems encountered by students and lecturers in using presentation technique for delivering the lecture: 1) Many students did not understand the materials easily and clearly through presentation technique caused by several things. 2) Many students had a lack of enthusiasm in using presentation technique that made them bored and ignored the presentation. 3) Many students had a lack of presentation skill, so they still faced some difficulties to apply a meaningful and effective presentation. 4) Limited time sometimes made the discussion unclear and feedback could not occur. 5) For lecturers, students’ behavior and respond influenced the process of lecturing. In fact, presentation technique could not motivate the students to improve their skill deeply. 6) Not all facilities worked well and supported the presentation. In short, presentation technique used in lecturing process did not mean bad or failed, but it needed improvement in order to make a better and effective lecturing. |
