| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian ini berjudul “John Lennon’s Personal View on Religion in His Life through His Five Song Lyrics” yang menganalisis tentang pandangan personal John Lennon terhadap agama melalui lima lirik lagu yang dibuat oleh John Lennon. Pendekatan objektif digunakan untuk mendukung dalam analisis penelitian tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif yang mendiskusikan tentang persepsi John Lennon tentang agama di hidupnya. Sumber data utama dalam penelitian ini diambil dari lima lirik lagu John Lennon yang berjudul Remember, Mother, I Found Out, God dan Imagine. Selanjutnya, teori yang digunakan adalah figurative language, kemudian, konsep agama dan perjalanan hidup John Lennon digunakan sebagai data tambahan untuk mendukung penelitian. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa lima lagu yang telah dipilih menjelaskan tentang pandangan John Lennon terhadap agama di dalam hidupnya. Lagu Remember mengingatkan tentang peristiwa Guy Fawkes Night dimana dalam lirik lagu tersebut John Berusaha untuk menyampaikan pesan tentang konflik perbedaan agama yang terjadi di Inggris. John berusaha untuk mengingatkan rakyat inggris jika kekerasan adalah bukan jalan terbaik dalam menangani perbedaan agama. Selanjutnya adalah lagu Mother yang menceritakan tentang kekecewaan John Lennon dia karena telah dilarang untuk mengikuti kegiatan ibadah di gereja anglikan. Selain itu, secara metaphor dia menjelaskan tentang konsep trinitas ketuhanan dimana dalam lirik lagu tersebut John Lennon masih mempercayai Tuhan meskipun ia tidak menjadi seorang pemeluk agama. Dalam lirik I Found Out , John Lennon menceritakan tentang perjalanan religious bersama sahabat karib nya Paul McCartney ke India dan mempelajari tentang kehidupan religious Hindu di india.kemudian lirik lagu God menceritakan tentang pandangan john Lennon terhadap hal-hal abstrak dan elemen keagamaan seperti Tuhan dan tokoh besar lainya. Dalam lirik lagu tersebut John Lennon mengungkapkan ketidakpercayaan terhadap symbol keagamaan dan tokoh-tokoh besar dunia karena tidak memberikan efek terhadap dirinya. Lirik lagu Imagine menceritakan tentang pandangan John Lennon terhadap surga, neraka, agama dan negara. Dalam lirik lagu tersebut John mengungkapkan bahwa dia tidak percaya terhadap agama yang dapat membuat perdamaian karena justru banyak perang yang terjadi di dunia ini mengatasnamakan agama. |

Inggris) | Abstract This research entitled “John Lennon’s Personal Views on Religion in His Life through His Five Song Lyrics, which analyzes about John Lennon personal views on religion in his life which are written in his song lyrics. The objective approach is used in supporting the analysis. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative that discusses the phenomenon of John Lennon’s personal perception on religion in his lifetime. The primary data are taken from five of John Lennon’s song lyrics entitled Remember, Mother, I Found Out, God, and Imagine. Meanwhile, the secondary data are taken from the related theory of figurative language, concept of religion and John Lennon life. The results of this research show that five selected song lyrics in this research represent John Lennon’s personal views on Religion in his lifetime. The song Remember illustrates the incident of Guy Fawkes Night, which is used by John Lennon to deliver his messages about the diversity of religion in England. He tries to remind English people through the metaphor of the Fifth November that violence is not the way to respond the diversity of religion. The song Mother explains about John Lennon earliest religious life in paradox which has been baptized in Anglican Church, but he also banned from the Church, by the metaphor of Mother, Father and Children as the trinity of Christianity. However, he still believes in God even he was not the member either the Anglican Church or the Catholic Church. I Found Out song lyric tells about his religious relationship with Paul McCartney and their religious journey to India, with symbol of Hare Krishna. The song lyric of God illustrates about John Lennon’s point of view about the symbol of religious elements as the symbol of abstract things and lists of many idols as the symbols of legendary, which is not directly affecting the human life. John Lennon states that he does not believe to any religious symbol or any legendary people who are believed that they can change the world. In Imagine song lyric, Lennon illustrates the concept of positive prayer metaphor of heaven, hell, religion, and country. John Lennon tells about his personal view that he does not believe to any religion that makes better life in this world, since there are many wars that people to defend their religion as their reason. |
