Jambu Biji (Psidium guajava) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang diketahui memiliki aktivitas sebagai anti-inflamasi, sehingga berpotensi dikembangkan sebagai anti arthritis. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas ekstrak etanol daun P. guajava dilihat dari penurunan volume dan keliling edema serta histopatologi sendi tibiotarsal pada tikus jantan galur Sparaque Dawley yang diinduksi complete freud’s adjuvant (CFA). 
Penelitian dilakukan pada hewan uji yang diinduksi CFA dengan ekstrak etanol daun P. guajava sebagai senyawa uji dan dexametason sebagai kontrol positif. Tikus SD jantan dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok, terdiri dari kelompok kontrol negatif (Arthritis), kelompok kontrol positif deksametason dengan dosis 3 mg/kg BB (i.p), dan kelompok ekstrak etanol daun P. guajava dengan dosis 250 mg/kg BB, 500 mg/kg BB dan 750 mg/kg BB (p.o). Setiap kelompok diinduksi dengan CFA konsentrasi 1 mg/ml pada hari ke-1 sebanyak 0,2 ml dan pada hari ke-5 diinduksi CFA lagi sebanyak 0,1 ml, kemudian senyawa uji diberikan pada hari ke 14 - 28 setelah induksi CFA. Pengamatan volume dan keliling edema dilakukan sebelum dan setelah induksi CFA, yaitu pada hari ke- 1, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, dan  28, sedangkan pengambilan jaringan sendi tibiotarsal untuk pengamatan histopatologi dilakukan pada hari ke-29 dengan metode pengecatan hematoksilin eosin (H&E). Data perubahan volume dan keliling edema dianalisis dengan statistika ANOVA satu arah dengan taraf kepercayaan 95% dan dilanjutkan uji LSD. Data histopatologi dianalisis secara deskriptif. 
Ekstrak etanol daun P. guajava mempunyai aktivitas anti-inflamasi kronis berdasarkan penurunan volume dan keliling edema serta berdasarkan pada gambaran histopatologi sendi tibiotarsal terjadi perbaikan membran sinovial dan rongga sendi pada tikus adjuvant induced arthritis (AIA) yang diinduksi complete freud’s adjuvant (CFA) dengan dosis efektif adalah ekstrak etanol daun P.guajava dosis 250 mg/kgBB. Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun P. guajava memiliki aktivitas anti-inflamasi kronis dan berpotensi sebagai anti anthritis.

Guava (Psidium guajava) is a plant that is known to have anti-inflammatory activity, potentially be developed as an antiarthritis. The aims of this study is to determine the activity of the ethanol extract of leaves of P. guajava showed from decreasing in volume and circumference of edema and tibiotarsal joint histopathology in male Sparaque Dawley (SD) rats strain induced complete Freud's adjuvant (CFA). 
The study was conducted in test animals induced CFA with ethanol extract of leaves of P. guajava as a test compound and dexamethasone as a positive control. SD male rats were divided into 5 groups, and each group concisting negatif control group (Arthritis), dexamethasone group at a dose of 3 mg/kg (i.p), and ethanolic extract group of P. guajava  leaf with a dose of 250 mg/kg, 500 mg /kg and 750 mg/kg (p.o). Each group was induced with CFA concentration of 1 mg/ml on day 1st and as many as 0.2 ml on day 5th CFA induced again as much as 0.1 ml, then the test compound is given at day 14-28 after CFA induction. Observations edema volume and circumference before and after CFA induction, on days 1st, 4th, 8 th, 12 th, 16 th, 20th, 24th, and 28th, while taking tibiotarsal joint tissue for histopathological observations made on day 29th with method hematoxylin eosin staining (H&E). Data changes in edema volume and circumference were analyzed by one-way ANOVA with a statistical confidence level of 95% and continued LSD test. Histopathologic data were analyzed descriptively. 
Ethanol extract of P. guajava leaves have chronic anti-inflammatory activity by volume and circumference reduction in edema and histopathological picture based on an improvement tibiotarsal joint synovial membrane and joint cavity in rat Adjuvant Induced Arthritis (AIA) induced Complete Freud's Adjuvant (CFA) with best dose is extract of leaves of P. guajava is 250 mg/kgBB. This results indicate that the ethanol extract of P. guajava leaves have chronic anti-inflammatory activity  and potentially as antiarthritis.
