PENGARUH PRODUK FERMENTASI LIMBAH UDANG TERHADAP HASIL TANAMAN CABAI MERAH

Cabai merah (Capsicum annum L) merupakan salah satu jenis sayuran penting yang bernilai ekonomis tinggi dan cocok untuk dikembangkan di daerah tropis seperti di Indonesia. Penggunaan pestisida pada cabai seringkali menyalahi aturan dan tanpa mempertimbangkan keadaan lingkungan di sekitarnya. Penggunaan pestisida yang berlebihan ini menyebabkan terjadinya pencemaran terhadap tanah, air, udara, dan hasil pertanian. Produk fermentasi limbah udang menjadi sumber karbon bagi bakteri dalam tanah, meningkatkan proses perubahan bahan organik dan memfasilitasi mikroorganisme untuk menghasilkan lebih banyak nutrisi dari tanah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh aplikasi cairan hasil fermentasi limbah udang terhadap hasil tanaman cabai. Penelitian merupakan percobaan di polibag yang dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli 2012 sampai dengan bulan Oktober 2012 di rumah kasa Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Jenderal Soedirman Purwokerto. Percobaan non factorial dengan perlakuan terdiri atas aplikasi cairan hasil fermentasi limbah udang secara alami (FA) dan aplikasi cairan hasil fermentasi limbah udang dengan penambahan Bacillus B298 (FE), dengan lama fermentasi 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, dan 7 hari, sehingga terdapat 18 perlakuan termasuk kontrol dengan perendaman air dan fungisida yang diulang sebanyak 6 kali. Variabel pengamatan meliputi tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah buah, panjang buah, lingkar buah, dan berat buah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi produk fermentasi limbah udang tidak berpengaruh nyata pada semua variabel yang diukur kecuali variabel panjang buah. Buah tanaman cabai yang diberi perlakuan cairan hasil fermentasi limbah udang secara alami dengan lama fermentasi 2, 3, 6, dan 7 hari atau perlakuan cairan hasil fermentasi limbah udang dengan Bacillus B298 selama 2 hari memiliki buah lebih panjang daripada buah tanaman yang hanya diberi air. Buah tanaman cabai yang diberi perlakuan cairan hasil fermentasi limbah udang dengan Bacillus B298 selama 2 hari adalah yang terpanjang.

Red chili (Capsicum annum L.) is one of important vegetables, it has high economic value and it is suitable to be developed in the tropics such as in Indonesia. Pesticide application on chili is often violated the rules, without considering the circumstances surrounding environment. Excessive use of pesticides has led to the pollution of soil, water, air and agricultural products. Shrimp waste fermentation products became a source of carbon for the bacteria in the soil, improving bioconversion of organic materials and facilitating microorganisms to produce more nutrients from the soil. This research aims to know the effect of liquid product of fermented shrimp waste applied on chili on the growth and yield of pepper plants. The research was carried out on polybag from July 2012 to October 2012 in screen house, Faculty of Agriculture, the University of Jenderal Soedirman Purwokerto. Non factorial treatments consisted of the application of liquid products of shrimp waste that was fermented naturally (FA) and the application of liquid product of shrimp waste that was fermented by Bacillus B298 (FE) for 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 days. There were 18 treatments including application of water and application of fungicide. There were six replications for each treatment. Observed variables were plant height, number of leaves, the amount of fruit, fruit length, a fruit circumference, and weight of fruit. Result showed that treatments had no significant effect on all measured variables except fruit length. Fruits of chili plants treated by liquid product of shrimp waste that was fermented naturally for 2, 3, 6, 7 days or treated by liquid product of shrimp waste that was fermented by Bacillus for 2 days were longer than that of plants treated by water. Fruits of chili plant treated by liquid product of shrimp waste that was fermented by Bacillus for 2 days were the longest.
