Pemeliharaan ayam pedaging menggunakan beberapa tipe kandang, diantaranya tipe kandang litter panggung dan litter postal. Perlakuan feses pada kedua tipe kandang akan menyebabkan keadaan feses sebagai tempat hidup tungau Familia Macrochelidae akan berbeda. Keragaman tungau Familia Macrochelidae diduga akan berbeda juga pada kedua tipe kandang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui keragaman tungau Familia Macrochelidae pada feses ayam yang dipelihara dengan tipe kandang litter panggung dan litter postal. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei, dengan teknik pengambilan sampel secara sistematis. Pengambilan sampel sebanyak 100 gram di setiap sudut (4 titik) dan bagian tengah kandang (1 titik) dan dilakukan 4 kali pengulangan dengan interval 1 minggu. Sampel feses yang didapat kemudian dibawa ke laboratorium untuk diekstraksi menggunakan Barlese-Tullgren termodifikasi dan diamati lebih lanjut. Tungau yang diperoleh kemudian dihitung jumlah dan jenisnya, diawetkan, serta diidentifikasi di Laboratorium Entomologi-Parasitologi, Fakultas Biologi, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Purwokerto. Variabel yang diamati adalah keragaman tungau Familia Macrochelidae, tipe kandang litter panggung dan litter postal. Parameter yang diamati adalah jenis dan jumlah tungau Familia Macrochelidae, temperatur dan kelembaban feses ayam. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan indeks Shannon-Wiener dan indeks Shannon-Evennes. Indeks keragaman tungau Familia Macrochelidae pada feses ayam yang dipelihara dengan tipe kandang litter panggung adalah 0,81354. Indeks keragaman pada tipe kandang litter postal adalah 0,79871.

Broiler chicken maintenance using some cage type, including the type of litter stage cage and litter postal cage. Faeces treatment in both types of cages will cause the faeces as a place for mites Macrochelidae to live different. The diversity of mites Macrochelidae also expected to be different in the two types of cages. The aimed of this research were to know the diversity of mites species in the Familia Macrochelidae on chicken faeces that were kept by the type of litter stage cage and litter postal cage. This research used survey method, with systematic sampling technique. The samples were as many as 100 grams in each corner of the cage (4 points) and the center of the cage (1 point) and performed 4 repetitions with 1 week intervals. The samples obtained were then taken to the laboratory to be extracted using Barlese-Tullgren and observed. Mites were obtained and calculated their number and species, preserved and identified in the Laboratory of Parasitology-Entomology, Faculty of Biology, Jenderal Soedirman University, Purwokerto. The variables measured were Familia Macrochelidae mite diversity, type of litter stage cage and litter postal cage. Parameters measured were the species and number of mites in the Familia Macrochelidae, temperature and humidity of chicken faeces. The result were analyzed using Shannon-Wiener index and Shannon-Evennes index. Diversity index of mite of Familia Macrochelidae on chickens faeces that was kept with the type of litter stage cage was 0.81354. Diversity index on the type of litter postal cage was 0.79871.
